This is my itemized take on the team/game: 1. Talent level- If Jacob Tamme can come in and star. If Seyi Ajirotutu can star. It has a lot to do with the formations ran, the game planning, the adjustments and the play calling. I don't care that Peyton Manning is throwing to him or Philip Rivers. The play call has to get them open. It isn't like defenses fear Patrick Crayton to double cover him and leave Ajirotutu wide open. We need to be bold. It says something of an offensive game plan where Brandon Marshall barely gets the looks. The man works best underneath and breaking big plays, but guess what, you need to run a scheme where the underneath would be clear of players. Why did we run a quick pass to Bess in the flat with no clear out? Shouldn't we confuse the DB and get him running 2. That's my Quarterback man- Henne **** the proverbial bed. He threw some ****ty passes. I mean science damn he threw some ****ty passes. The Hartline INT is on Hartline. The Reed INT is 60-40 on him. The last one I put on him but I wanna see a replay. But with the success I see some teams have with no one catching the ball (see: Rams), I have to believe this **** is on Henning. Who the hell is Sam Bradford throwing to? Randy McMichael had two TD's today. The coaching staffs know who they have and they play to their strengths. We have Chad Henne but we have a Chad Pennington offense. Rather make Henne look bad in a Pennington offense, why not make a Chad Henne offense. Henne started the season on a short leash. That leash got tighter. Physically he can make the throws. He makes a fair amount of mental mistakes though. I'd like to see him in a Ken Whisenhunt offense. 3. The Miami Prevent Offense- By this I mean we prevent the defense from the possibility of keying up on a specific play. We come out of the gate gashing them with Ronnie Brown. When we see they decide to change fronts/formations, we change the plan. Did they prove that it would have been effective? On paper changing a front should take away a specific play but it wasn't actually tested. Do it until they stop it. It may result in a negative play, but so did your changed play. I just watched the Eagles run two straight successful end-arounds to DeSean Jackson. I'm sure the Colts keyed on it. Proper execution kills changes. Try it once, if it doesn't work, try something else. Also, if you stop using it for 20 plays, they probably stopped keying in on it. Try it again. It being Ronnie up the middle most of the time. 4. Strange Play-calling- Ray Rice dump-offs. Deep throws after previous throws. Play action passing after no running and in the two minute offense. That is all. 5. Personnel- It is clear to me, we don't have the personnel to be successful on the big stage. I want to see another LB (coverage), DB (catcher), TE (Pass catcher), WR (burner), Offensive co-ordinator. And honestly, if Tony Sparano comes out and doesn't say, we **** the bed, coaches and players. We messed up bad. We were disgusting. WE ****ED UP! He needs to go. He's a good coach but if he can't recognize a problem, he doesn't need to be here. That week when he said he thought Lou Polite would have broken a TD run on a 3rd and long draw play really pissed me off. Does he think we're stupid? I want him to go out there and pull a Tim Tebow after that Ole Miss loss. He needs to admit they sucked. But he needs to put his job on the line for success. If he can't admit that business as usual isn't cutting it, I want no part of business as usual. What needs to happen: 1. Job security- If you played or coached, it should be made clear you don't have any unless your name is Cameron Wake, Jake Long, Dan Carpenter, Brian Hartline, and I'm gonna say Vernon Carey earned a spot this week. Henning certainly shouldn't have it, Nolan has it on principle but not on performance, Sparano certainly doesn't have it. Rizzi has lost it. 2. Play calling- We go away from what works because of their adjustments, but then what doesn't work we keep doing it on offense. On defense, Ray Rice. 3. Everyone on both sides of the ball need tackling drills- If you play for the Miami Dolphins, you have a full practice of tackling drills on Monday and Tuesday. No days off for the rest of the season unless you blow out 3 straight teams. 4. Tweak the offense. Dinking and donking with the occasional deep pass is Chad Pennington's offense. If gentlemen like Seyi Ajirotutu can step in and go deep, I have the suspicion that it's not because he's the next Vincent Jackson. These guys are practice squad guys who step in and go crazy because the offense is built for them and their QB. I think we need to activate Moore or do something with Wallace. Get Hartline a bit deeper. Philip Rivers can make sick throws, but he can't run the routes for the players. Beast/Hartline > Evans/Johnson in Buffalo Ajirotutu/Crayton in San Diego. 5. This one is for the fans- Be mad, write a sensible, strongly worded letter, but understand that some guys who were supposed to contribute such as Kory Sheets and A. J. Edds are not in. Not to say either of them are All-Pro, but they have a place here. 6. Talent Evaluation- My personal favorite as many of you know, is Charley Casserly. He's is GREAT at scouting and evaluating talent. Looking at guys like Owen Daniels, DeMeco Ryans, Dunta Robinson, and Mario Williams, I think he's pretty good at it. We seem to draft for need but we don't draft the best person to fit that role. We also need to be more prudent with the money we spend. Was that nice contract for Crowder worth it? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe we could have dropped Crowder and pony up some extra cash for Bart Scott. He isn't the best player but I think he'd fit better than Crowder. 7. Time- This is probably the biggest need at this point. Chad Henne is in reality, four games out of his rookie season. Rodgers and Rivers were given 3 and 2 years respectively. I bet if they had started day one, they wouldn't have looked that good. Rivers wasn't even all that good before the last 2 years. Some of these rookies need time, and if they don't get it, they won't grow. I'm looking at game 3 of the 2011-2012 season. That is where we need to see a Championship team. Maybe expectations were too high. Mine were high too but I just decided to deal with it rather than rave about us sucking. I saw us as a contender and I allowed myself to buy the hype. Then I started lowering my expectations to more reasonable levels. We rebuilt while we were rebuilding. In 2008, we rebuilt the wrong way. We went for stop gaps instead of development. We won in 2008 and were solid in 2009. Now, we're feeling what we should have felt in 2009. It sucks but this is our team. We need to be supportive of our team and players. We need to be constructive in our criticism. We need to take it one day at a time and take a step back. There is no excuse for what happened today. In my eyes, this is what happens when you bailout a team. We pumped money into old players in 2008 and all looked well. The same problems still remained though. We are now dealing with our mistake from 2008. A young team learning how to win. Blind loyalty isn't the answer but neither is knee-jerk bashing. Maybe we can meet halfway, with some give and take, and prove we're the best fans in the NFL. GO DOLPHINS!!!
Well played sir, well played. But I will say their are many young QB's out there right now hold their own on the field. Sad to see that Henne isnt doing the same.
