Kiko getting burned by Cook for the entire 1st quarter of the Raiders game shouldn't detract from the great year he has been having. I doubt that there is a LB'er in the league that could have been successful against Cook on Sunday night.
Timmons, Kiko, and Maualuga have all been good to great this season.

The seam defense is still a little frustrating, but at least the run defense is much improved, Lynch TD not withstanding. -
I really dont know what you watch. Kiko alonso is bad. He is an absolute liability in pass coverage. He hasnt been good since he tore his ACL in buffalo his rookie year/right after that. He wasnt even good last year, and we stupidly gave him a new contract. He is consistently a step behind in coverage almost every time. Sunday wasnt some aberration, it is the kind of player he is.

But since Kiko moved to weakside he has played well. Also if we had some pressure, it would help any LB coveringIrishman, bigballa2102, Tin Indian and 2 others like this. -

Except for that one int he got against San Diego last year he has been terrible in coverage since he got here.
Kiko is generally a very undisciplined player, he plays balls to the wall but with no control and not much intelligence. In the run game also he overpersues takes bad angles or attacks the wrong holes too often.
In my opinion we ask him to do too much. He is ok at weakside and he is a very good Blitzer. I think we should use him more in blitz packages and less in coverage.Last edited: Nov 7, 2017 -
However if you listen to the cheerleaders here on the forum they will tell you he is the greatest thing since sliced bread and will save the defense.
He is better than Nate Allen though.KeyFin likes this. -

I am hoping the rest of the defense is watching Timmons on film days. No BS "big hits"/arm tackles. Timmons is a TEXTBOOK tackler. THAT is how you do it boys and girls! Works for most weapons too. Aim for center mass, stay on target and keep firing til they are on the ground.
TACKLING! WHAT A CONCEPT!
It's like this team thinks tackling is like turn signals, it's the right way to drive, but not for the cool kids.dolphin25, SocaCasualuk and KeyFin like this. -

Kiko has been terrific in coverage the majority of this season. He's been one of the better Will's in the league the majority of the season. He is a little undersized, but he plays like a much bigger man. He's a sure tackler and he's actually in the right spot at the right time the majority of the time.
You're either not talking about Kiko or you have no clue what you're watching. -

pressure is the key for all LB to cover, that's why there getting burned our pressure isn't really over the top. We need to use the Lb's and blitz I just don't get why we are the only team that refuses to blitz year after yr. its annoying

He only had one game this season where he played great and that was week 5 against the titans. The rest of the games he has been bad or mediocre. PFF gives him an overall "poor" rating for the season which is the worst rating they could give him.
Seriously stop being ridiculous Dan. It seems the only time you are willing to critisize a player is when the coaching staff doesnt like him as in the case of ajayi.
It would seem like you are a paid dolphins troll since according to you the FO and coaches can do no wrong. -
Example?
Ok...
"Defending the pass, Alonso was fantastic in coverage in this game, earning a coverage grade of 88.3 on 34 coverage snaps. He allowed just 18 yards on three receptions while also making three tackles resulting in an offensive failure in the passing game. Alonso also picked up a sack off of a blitz."

He's not the best coverage LB'er in the league, but most of the time he's been good to great.KeyFin, The Finest and Tin Indian like this. -
That quote you reference is from the pff assessment of his game against tennesee in week 5. I already told you that was the only game this season where he has played really good. ONE game. The rest of the games he has been bad or mediocre.
You selectively used that quote from pff, but why don't you acknowledge that PFF gives him a poor grade for the season?
Stop being ridiculous Dan, just stop it. -

I think you may need to grade Kiko on a curve. Compared to last years Kiko or LB play in General from the Dolphins over the last four years or so...Kiko has been playing very well. I don't know about PFF or any of the # peeps.
Former LB eyes, been watching and coaching football for 40+ years tells me he's playing good to above average ball for this team, this year, so far.danmarino likes this. -
