1. Lack of offensive playmakers. 2. We have half of an offensive line. 3. Half of that half are free agents. 4. The best playmaker on offense is also a free agent. 5. The secondary has one very good player, and another two that are serviceable. Overhaul might be necessary. 6. Dansby is still "good", while being paid to be "very good". 7. No consistent pass rusher besides Cam Wake emerged this year. Back to the drawing board. 8. The coaching staff took all year to use Reggie Bush out of the backfield correctly. 9. That same coaching staff seemed to favor Daniel Thomas over Lamar Miller, for whatever reason. 10. Rishard Matthews finally cracked the gameday roster, and immediately proved to be better than everybody else before him besides the two constants in Bess and Hartline. 11. Whoever votes for the pro bowl evidently hates us. 12. The stadium experience is terrible. 13. The stadium staff is still hostile and unpleasant. 14. Listening to a Dolphins broadcast on the radio could not be more embarrassing, if you can call it "listening" since reception is horrific. 15. Jimmy Cefalo might be the worst play by play guy in the history of sports, and he is ALL OURS! Check that...Check that...oh..Check it...Check that... 16. The Fins just completed their 4th consecutive losing season, for the 1st time since their first 4 years, and nobody cares. 17. Jeff Ireland has been appointed "El Commandante for life." He could have 400 corpses rotting in his garage and get off with a $100 fine. 18. Oh, did I mention that the Referees hate us as well. 19. Don't forget that God is also a Patriots fan. 20. The prospective new logo looks like a Blind Dolphin having a seizure while being electrocuted. Feel free to add....
Same time , next year ... do we hear excuses for not making the playoffs.....again? or is it actually a successful season?
You forgot our best player for the last 5 years has broken down and seems to be a shell of his former himself.
BTW, how come this gets no pub on this board: I got upset after the Gronk score, and hopped in my car to go to a friends house to watch the Romo Abortion later that night. I turned on 940 to listen to the game......WHOA. WHOA. Jimmy Cefalo must have pics of Ross with a underage goat.
My positive from 2012 was listening to Joe Philbin's end of year press conference and he said that the two things that jump out to him in terms of improving for next year were 1) Improving turnover margin - says we finished 2012 at -10 and 2) Said that we need more explosive play on offense and defense. He addressed a follow-up question about WR and CB saying that they've got to score more touchdowns as a unit and preventing big plays; not entirely isolated to receiver and cornerback, but must improve. One other point he addressed, was that they may have had 5 rookies on offense on the field at the same time for a snap or two, wasn't sure but, that's a lot of youth on the team. QB - Tannehill RB - Miller WR - Matthews TE - Egnew LT - Martin
I don't like him either. Living in Jersey I only hear him on highlight packages but he is pretty bad.
"Bad" is too kind. He has absolutely no qualification whatsoever to do the job. He is horrific at it.
from yesterday...(paraphrasing): "Ridley gets out across midfield with a big burst, gain of 10." "Check that, gain of 11 to the 42 yard line of the patriots." "Check that, it is a 9 yard gain, 3rd and 1."
Philbin was also asked if he was "opposed philosophically to improving the team via signing a high priced free agent". He answered that he's not opposed to improving the team by any means possible "trade, free agency, or draft". Maybe there is more hope for a Mike Wallace or Greg Jennings signing than we were expecting.
Ha, good thing I don't have to deal with it. Even more though, I could never listen to football on the radio. Whenever I do I get a major itch to get to a tv.
here is another thing to add to the list. the Bills are making progress despite them firing Chan Gailey and the jets fired their gm too. the jets and bills spilt a gme with us nd they get the better draft picks and we still have a ******** for a gm. we have more holes now then we did when ireland took over.
I feel happiest for San Diego, even though Norv is probably naked on some street corner and whacking it as we speak. Those poor bastards hung tough for what seemed like an eternity. I hope they pop a cork and aim it at Philip Rivers.
My hope is that Philbin takes a list of the UFA players he wants back, the ones he wants to target in the UFA market, and that Ireland bends over backwards to adhere to wishes of the head coach.
Why? That sounds awfully silly. If we're doin that why not have Ireland call the plays on game days? We have a staff that scouts our players and other teams' players, division of responsibility or something like that. Of course Philbin knows his guys better than anyone but other than studying the current opponents he probably doesn't know much about other teams' players and he damn sure does t have the time to look at any of the college guys.
.... or perhaps he might actually be in agreement with Philbin and they end up working well together.
I'm no expert but isn't it wise to look at what's available in the draft (cheap labor) when considering who to sign or re-sign? For example, if you like Dee Milliner or Barkevious Mingo and you think you can grab him at pick 12, wouldn't that affect whether or not you re-sign Starks or Sean Smith? Ditto for Keenan Allen vs re-signing Hartline or paying big bucks for a FA WR? If you love Tyler Eifert why re-sign Fasano or spend big for Jared Cook, etc? It all molds together IMO. You have your head of college scouting, head of pro player personnel, and yeah, the Coaching staff. The GM should take all of their input and make an informed decision, that's his job. I don't think he should be bending over backwards for the HC or anyone else. Especially not the fans.
