ROYAL PALM BEACH — As if being boiled alive and eaten weren't bad enough, lobsters are being terrorized by a new attraction at the Royal Palm Ale House, animal rights activists complain.

Next to the restaurant's bar stands a tall water tank fitted with a mechanical claw. Diners can pay a few bucks for a few minutes of dexterous play: Grab a lobster, and the chef will cook it for you.

I know the owner of this establishment, he's a customer of mine.

eh, this is fine. I've played a game like this before and the slight grab of a claw is probably nothing compared to the beating the lobsters would take in the ocean. this is like saying you can't use a cattle prod to move cattle towards the slaughterhouse imo. I agree with animals rights activists periodically but this just makes no sense

:pointlol:

Grabbing them with a soft claw bad. Dropping them in boiling water yummy.

I hear ya.

am I the only one that found this part funny as hell

"To pull off limbs, to poke them in the eye, to otherwise torment these animals ... we just find that appalling," said Melissa Gates

I don't know I just keep seeing a replay again and again of a lobster getting hit in the eye with the claw, then someone near the tank getting super pissed off about it.......

thanks to VO for the sick ass sigs.

I am curious what makes those who care about all living creatures "crazy" in PBP readers' eyes? These people are only trying to protect vulnerable creatures from needless suffering.

Recall that advocates for
women's rights and human equality often underwent the same type of idiotic ridicule from people who wanted to continue their tradition of oppression...

It seems to me that the real crazies are the ones who will do anything -- including torturing and then boiling other living creatures alive -- for a buck and to fill their fat guts.

This is what makes me think animal activists are out of touch. Really? Making sure a lobster doesn't get hit in the face with a plastic claw makes you equivalent to civil rights workers?

I wish they still had tanks full of women that you could choose from. *sigh* The Good Old Days.

That reminds me of the iguana extermination law that is in effect now.

Legal: A blow to the head, followed by decapitation.

More than 1 blow to the head = animal cruelty.

there are plenty of sane animal activists, but there are surely a lot of crazies too.

my brother's research lab got threats of firebombing because the activists thought that they worked on monkeys, which they don't. they even caught a guy trespassing in the lab videotaping one morning before animal rights week. some of them are just crazy.

don't get me wrong man, I don't think all are crazy. I don't think its wrong to ask for a little humanity when killing animals even cows and chickens. But I would say there seems to be alot of lunacy when it comes to animal rights activists, or at least overzealous feelings of importance.
