Take 3 and throw them out, they will not be the player you thought and thats being generous. Now do the list again and see who you have. This is the silly season.
Actually whilst a blue chip guy would be nice - I like Russell Okung but he's not a blue chipper - what I think we need to do is hit on quality like we did last year. We need another Vontae Davis who can come in, start and contribute right from the start.
And of the names on that list of yous, realistically the only one we have a genuine shot at is Gresham.
HB Ryan Matthews - Fresno State Say, for what ever season, Ronnie B isn't a Fin next season, what your thoughts on this guy, if he declares? Does he carry a 1st or 2nd round grade with you guys?
I know it's early, but what do you think of the TE prospects this year? Anyone you like as with Pettigrew last year?
Gresham or Spiller, but Iupati just is there like a rock and makes as much sense imho as either of those two.
I know, don't expect Gresham to be there either, Pettigrew went at #21 or so, and Gresham is a better receiver than Pettigrew was imho. That is why Guard sort of makes sense to me, make the Oline dominant and you can use later picks on lesser prospects and Henne will have time to hit them. Ditto a fillin running back which we also need imho.
Absolutely love the guy. Been watching him since the beginning of the year. Good vision, strong, quick and fast. I think he's a sixty-seventy five selection.
Great game tomorrow Alen, Wyoming v Fresno State, Matthews and my boy John Fletcher will be playing. Maybe a "Bowl Watch' thread should be started to inform people of the players that might interest the Dolphins might be playing in?
If you wish to make one, go for it brother. I haven't seen John Fletcher. What do you like about him? He's got a good inside move? Quick off the edge?
Done, nice size, good speed, already plays special teams, 6'6 270, he could replace JT at Sam meanwhile he would also be a 4 core special teams player.
Dunno yet, he plays all over, DT, DE, some LB and I am looking forwards to the NM Bowl, Fletcher just seems like a Ireland type of find. Roth's 40 time at the Combine was not very good as I recall, maybe 4.8 something, I think Fletcher will come in quicker than that, maybe low 4'8. He is like a poor man's Wooten.
At least you're just reviewing them. I'm actually cutting them up for video. This is a HELL of an undertaking. But if there's something that is going to make Universal Draft the single best draft site on the web, video is it.
BTW I think a guy that Miami will start to get hot on in this draft for the OLB position would be Dexter Davis of Arizona State. I don't know if you've taken a look at him yet Alen but you ought to. He plays Defensive End in their defense. He's not all that much of a pass rusher, but he punches with his hands really well, keeps his hands active, gets off blocks, defeats cut blocks, reads the ball and drops back pretty well into coverage. He's a good weight for his height, and he looks like he's got pretty long arms. I point him out because I've been sort of trying to find a guy like that who could play some SOLB on this team, maybe a little bit more limited of a player. I like the kid a lot.
A ton of work to be sure, I don't like referencing Draftscout and would prefer to use Universal, but it takes time.
Nobody's going to compete with NFL Draft Scout in terms of sheer information tracking and compilation. That's ok with me. But with Universal what I think we can do is not just tell you who is good and why, but show you who is good and why.
Wait, you've been talking high on him but haven't watched him yet? Universal Draft is the best Draft site on the web that doesn't have fees required to gain access to content. I firmly believe that because of the people who help run it; you, Con and Boom. And I don't say that just because you guys are members here and I've learned a tremendous amount from you all. I say that because I think the content is as quality as you can get without having to pay up. Yeah I've actually been tracking Dexter Davis for a couple years as a strong option for Miami . He's quality and whilst he struggles to run the arch consistently and dip his shoulder, he's got potential. Hard working end who is strong. The thing that I wonder is if they will knock him for his height. I doubt he's much bigger than Brandon Graham, who I also think is quality, or Jason Worilds for example. I think those three guys are going to be options for this team but I like to think that they wouldn't take a guy like Graham high because of the height issue. I imagine they want a guy who's got height and long arms. If they do go with a guy who doesn't meet the specific requirements that they set, it may not be high in the Draft and I think that's where guys like Worilds and Davis come in. They are mid round guys whilst Graham is higher up.
http://www.vidchili.com/video/ElDqZddYcuU/4_TCU_vs_Wyoming_Football_Highlight/ Yeah, I may have seen a snap or two Alen
I wonder if he's a full 6'2". He's built funny, high shoulders and arms, no neck. Generally, height is an issue I think on early picks and higher price free agents. But Davis is a mid round guy so I wonder. Also he could move inside I suppose. He's not the natural cover guy that Edds is, but he's got short steps and a lot of balance, quickness, good eyes. Yeah, that's what stands out to me too. As I said, he's in the class of Graham and Worilds for me in terms of height. I just think he and Worilds are stronger possibilities than a guy like Graham because of the grade they are given. We'll see come Combine though, it wouldn't surprise me if Graham checked it slightly over six feet, which would drop him a round I'd say. I don't mean to completely shift the topic here but I like Brandon Graham and Jason Worilds quite a bit. Both are very strong guys who work hard and have some attitude in their game (Worilds more than Graham though). Graham's got some Lamarr Woodley in him. I think he's quick, very strong and does a good job setting the edge. He also plays the zone reads well from what I've seen.
Tomorrow Middle Tennessee State and Southern Miss play. Damion Fletcher is a decent late round back from Southern Miss and Chris McCoy, the MDTS end is very quick off the edge. I mentioned him in the underrated/overrated prospects thread. Should be interesting to see him again tomorrow.
I agree, its more like a top 10 list, but its a funny game i play with myself by trying to add up all the best players and see how close the last one gets to where we pick..throw in a few suprises, {i forgot okung}, a few overrated qb's, that may go higher then expected because of need, and the last one on that list inches ever so teasingly closer.... For me personally, ive got a 5 slot rule this year in the first {pipe dream}, if the player i covet gets that close, i think were a team that could make a move like that, not to drastic, just a little, just in case.
I think it's a mediocre class Frays. I like Gresham a lot as a pure pass catcher, a seam buster. If Gronkowski comes out then that's interesting but he has big question marks. Then you have a guy like Dennis Pitta who can play and Ed Dickson and players like that, but generally I'm not fussed.
It's not their mo but if someone like a Spikes, Dan Willaims or Benn slipped into the 2nd rd I wouldn't mind seeing us trade a 4th to move up in the 2nd and nab him.
There's nothing impressive about this tight end class. The third best prospect is a guy that has only played the position a year. That should tell you something. I think there's a premium prospect in Gresham, a good prospect in McCoy, and after that, there's the big time project in Graham and a bunch of one-dimensional elevator music.
Hmm...not seeing top 3 Boom, probably not top 7 either. 1. Bucs 2. Rams 3. Lions 4. Browns 5. Chiefs 6. Redskins 7. Raiders Is the top 7, the only place it would make sense for him to land is Detroit and Spiller is not an every down back. 8. Broncos (from Bears) 9. 49ers (from Carolina) 10. Seahawks. 49ers have a pick to burn at #9 from the Panthers, but sill Gore and Coffee are already there, Seachickens need a Lt badly.
And that is why Iupati makes some sense, more than likely from the Top 10 until we pick around 20-26, 10-18 picks between the Dolphins and Gresham are just too long of odds for him to still be there when we select. It seems doubtful that the best Te in the draft will still be there, especially with the Texans picking ahead of us, they could draft Gresham and cut ties with Owen Daniels rather easily.
I'm not on board with the Iupati idea. We've spent an awful lot on this OL, I'm pretty greedy about OL in my own right but we have tons of areas that are WEAKNESSES and need fixing, I don't know about going ahead and plunking investment in an area of STRENGTH.
Unless it is an area that can dominate a game, then mere strength is not enough, it is better to be dominant on the Oline than merely very good. Besides, the area we will draft in, Oline is where we will find the BPA in. I mean honestly, is Golden Tate head and shoulders above Mardy Gilyard? As for Owen Daniels, coming off of a ACL? Not seeing it, this FO will not take that sort of risk for a large contract, I could see Chris Chambers back in Miami for a home town discount contract over signing a player with a shaky knee.
I just put you over the 1000 rep club Padre, your a real Rep star now..are you gonna go in the club lounge and strut? lol
True story deej, I did not even know what rep was until I got around 800 rep points or so and read were CNC was giving out rep points.. But thanks, and it should be a good show tomorrow, we come off of a win and things will be even better.
