Grier said our defense could be fixed in one offseason. Looking at the 2 deep depth:
LDE: Cam Wake - coming off major injury, possible contract restructure. How much can we depend on Wake?
RDE: Oliver Vernon - UFA. Could get big money on the open market. Improved edge rusher but bad vs the run.
LDT: Suh - not going anywhere.
RDT: Mitchell - reasonable salary but PFF graded him the worst run defender in the league among all qualifying DTs.
DE3: Derrick Shelby - UFA. Very good backup. Could get starter money elsewhere in a weak DE FA market.
DE4: Dion Jordan - Shrug.
DE5: Quinton Coples - could be back at a reduced salary. Worth a shot given our depth here.
DT3: Jordan Phillips - Barry Jackson says former coaching staff wasn't happy with his progress. Needs to get in better shape.
DT4: DeAndre Coleman - got some work at the end of the season. Not sure what we have here.
SLB: Koa Misi - wouldn't be a surprise if Miami moved on. $4.9M cap hit in 2016.
MLB: Kelvin Sheppard. UFA. Shouldn't be back.
WLB: Jelani Jenkins
OLB3: Neville Hewitt - Special teamer.
OLB4: Spencer Paysinger - UFA. Special teamer.
LCB: Brent Grimes - $9M cap hit in 2016. Can't really afford to cut him given the state of the position.
FS: Michael Thomas - RFA. Need an upgrade here.
SS: Reshad Jones
RCB: Brice McCain - should be playing the slot full time.
CB3: Jamar Taylor - Still stinks to high heaven. Time is probably up for this Jeff Ireland bust.
CB4: Bobby McCain - like Brice better suited to play slot. Was really exposed on the outside.
CB5: Tony Lippett - solid developmental player. Hopefully Vance Joseph and the new staff can develop this guy.
S3: Walt Aikens - good special teamer. Not a starting caliber safety.
S4: Louis Delmas - UFA. Good bye.

What is the point to this thread?
Where is the one year fix?
What do the bold names mean?

Definitely can't fix that in one off season.
