The last two days with Saunders and Santana pitching well, with Frankie getting saves is very encouraging Taking 3 out of 4 on the road is always nice
Encouraging article about Santana in the Times. Makes me excited for the possibilities of this guy if he can just get over his fear of leaving home. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-nuangels4apr04,1,1971042.story
Mosley needs to hold up until Lackey can get back. Rough night, but atleast they put up a fight in the 9th.
Good game tonight. Weaver pitched great but the offense helped Milwood out all night. Bases loaded in back to back innings and they could do anything with it. Oh well, at least they won. Looking forward to seeing what Garland does with his second start.
Weaver after the first inning of the game He's pretty good at faking it apparently... http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angels6apr06,1,3770367.story
Hunter GS walk off. I think they need to give Frankie some time off to let his ankle heal, he just isnt the same guy.
What do you guys think of the new announcers on FSN? I miss Physioc and Hud, they at least had some emotion. The new guy is dull and says way to many things that make me scratch my head and say this guy is a moron.
It's a shame he can't stay healthy. I love listening to Rex whether on the radio or on MLB The Show. It'd be like listening to a Lakers game with no Chick Hearn or Stu Lantz or a Dodgers game without Vin Scully.
Wonder how many injuries this team can sustain before it sinks us... Frankie and Kendrick need to get healthy fast. Having to rely on Daren Oliver in BP is a horrible thought.
Nice win to take the series against Cleveland. HR derby today, 4 HR by the Angels in a game? Unheard of. Head up to Seattle for a weekend series now. Pitching matchups vs Seattle Weaver vs Hernandez Garland vs Silva Saunders vs Bedard
I had assumed that Rex and Physioc were out, and based on stuff I've read lurking the ESPN boards that seemed to be the case. It isnt so though. I checked the Angels site and they are rotating between Rex/Physioc and Gubicza/Rory. Rex and Physioc will be doing the Seattle series this weekend. I cant really stand Rory, so I'm glad this isnt a permanent thing. I also couldnt stand Mota last season, so I'm glad they've taken him out of the booth. You can see the schedule of who's announcing when here http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/team/broadcasters.jsp?c_id=ana
Thanks for the info. I don't mind Rory but It just doesnt seem like Angels baseball without Phys and the Wonder Dog. A lot of my friends hate Rex but I think he's a great announcer and knows the game better than anyone. And I agree Mota is terrible.
There was an idea floated by Mychael Urban, one of the A's beat writers (and he covers them on A's.com) of turning him into a "Sunday starter". Meaning he only pitches on Sundays. That would give him 20-24 starts and give him 6 days rest in between starts. I like the concept because he'd pitch the final game of every weekend series and get more then full rest. Rich is starting to hear some questions about his toughness now as well. I know you have to be careful when you are a pitcher and be careful with young pitchers but the guy is simply made of glass. It's funny though, he was NEVER hurt when he was younger and coming up through the system. The idea of making him a closer is making more and more sense to me. It is a shame for A's fans though, the guy has TOP 5 in the sport stuff when he is healthy. I'm beginning to think he'll be a "what if" guy. Billy Beane getting all that young pitching in the off season really looks smart now though. Maybe Rich can get off the DL and come back quick. It is a strain and he would have missed his next start anyway, they needed the roster spot. If he only misses 2 starts and comes back quickly we'll see. Duchsherer is on the DL as well. BTW... I KNOW it is early but my A's are a hell of a lot better then I thought they would be. They won't make the playoffs but I think they could be a .500 club if the injury bug does not bite too hard.
What some top MLB prospects are doing so far in the young season. Nick Adenhart, SP, Triple-A (Angels) - 0.82 ERA, 11.0 IP, 5 BB, 8 K Brandon Wood, 3B, Triple-A (Angels) - 8/36, 5 R, 3 HR, 4 RBI, 0 SB Plenty of other prospects if you want to check how your teams guys are doing. http://sports.yahoo.com/fantasy/blo...oMHzJb4a0uCbQdYBwTcs.RNC5kB?urn=fantasy,76408
For some reason I sense that Physioc is out of favor with the higher-ups at FSN. He did not do the Pac-10 basketball games with Marques Johnson this season, (the dreadful Ted Robinson did them) as he had the previous few years. He also did not do the Pac-10 football games either(a Seatlle based crew did a lot of games). Also Gubizca must be in favor with the FSN people. I always thought he got hired since he was best buddies with Bud Black when they in the Royals rotation back in the 80's.
Looks like Lackey is progressing nicely And Kendrick is supposed to play tonight. Hopefully this time off didnt cool down his bat. Guy could compete for a batting title if he can just keep his hands healthy. http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angrep12apr12,1,169298.story
Cant believe the Angels lead the AL in HRs and Vlad hasnt even gotten going yet. Hopefully the pitching comes around, and the team starts getting some timely hits. Shows HR are a bit overrated.
GMJ grounded into 3 double plays tonight lol. I really wish Scioscia would put Kendrick in the 2 hole
Good and bad day today. The good, beating Seattle 10-5. The bad after coming back from the thumb problem with 6 hits, Howie Kendrick had something happened to his hamstring Ugh.
Nice win. Best hitting team in the league keeps swinging the bats well. Nice to see Santana bounce back after a rocky start too. Last year he would have let that inning ruin his night. Guy has great stuff and we desperately need him to hold things together mentally this year.
I feel bad that I used to not like Figgins. He's been pretty much the best hitter in the league since last May and has turned into one of the best lead off hitters in the game, the guy is always on base.
Strange TV facts early in the season. When the Halos game is on FSN West they are 9-2. When on the over the air station KCOP-13 they are 1-4.
I think it's clear who the best team in the division is. Without our 2 best pitchers and a beat up bullpen we're still in first place.
