I just wanted to extend a warm hand to a strong performance by Lou Polite (In my part of the country, we would pronounce his name POE-LEET because of the French influence...but I digress). I re-watched the game, and though he did whiff on a couple of blocks (notably on the 2nd down play on the last drive), Polite had an outstanding game! This guy busted some heads last night, and I just wanted to show my gratitude. If you did not know, Polite was extended for three more years this past May for $3.7 million. He is also a Parcells guy (that's a surprise!), playing in Dallas sparingly between '04-'06, and with the Bears in '07. Was an undrafted 4-year starter out of Pitt. He is great on 3rd and shorts. Ronnie and Ricky (and we) should be grateful to have this guy. He's really shown his worth! He's really the unsung hero of this offense.... YOU'RE MY BOY, B-LOU!!!! ** And on a side-note, I have been researching a little bit on Polite and he seems to be very involved in his community, working with former teammates from Pitt to help deserving children in and around Pittsburgh in unfortunate circumstances. He and Shawntae Spencer are/were working on an educational community center for an area in Pittsburgh. I like guys like this. He's not the richest guy by NFL standards, but the extra-curricular stuff I have read on him is all positive. He is great for the team and for the community. All around good guy. **
He's been blocking well the past three games or so. Really embracing this aspect of the position. Last night he was knocking snot out of people. The shot on Bart Scott early was highlighted, but he also jolted Calvin Pace upwards on one of Ricky's runs to the left late. And on Ronnie's final TD, he popped Bryan Thomas something solid at the POA. Those are off the top of my head. When praise gets thrown around for the team's improved blocking, Polite is truly one of the unsung heroes. That guy has stepped the hell up.
Gotta show some love for Haynos on that last Brown TD. Helluva block! Did you do the GIF animation yourself? If so, could you msg me on how it's done? I would like to utilize GIFs in the future. Thanks!
Did you see Scott after that play? He looked lost in the stars. Beautiful block, Polite is definitely playing big.
Announcer last night, maybe Gruden, said Scott was checking his chickletts to see if any were missing, Lou hit him so hard they thought he may have had teeth knocked out. Lou Polite=Chicklettes it is not such a bad nickname.
Bill Pollian referred to Polite as elite today on NFLN. Coming from the best football mind in the NFL, IMO, that's quite a compliment.
Especially when you can run him behind Jake Long. No DE is going to get push on Jake on those inside runs.
I was impressed. My gripe about him coming into the season was that he was a below average lead blocker. Over the last few games, I've really started to notice an improvement in his blocking. Hope he keeps it up, he can run the rock as well, and is money on short yardage.
I don't think he has much shot because it's a popularity contest. The best players only go if the fans have been told they're good for over a year. If he does go, it's likely to be next year. Nah, I got it from the Pictures from the Game thread.
