This is going to be stupid... For example, whoever the Jets draft... Dolphins, Bills, & Pats fans will rate the lowest option.
Well with roster updates throughout the year hopefully the mistakes will be sorted out somewhat, just might take longer than you'd like. If you can only use the first set of ratings in online franchise mode though, it will impact that since you'll kind of be stuck with the hits and misses.
Guys... read. The vote results won't be final. They'll be used in an "advisory" role by the person or persons who come up with the rankings. So just because the votes might place Rookie X at 99 doesn't mean he'll be rated a 99 in the game.
I read it and know what you're saying, but it still will throw off the initial ratings for the rookies at least a little. Not saying most popular will be 99 or whatever.
I'd be very surprised if a player that EA was going to rate at, say, 85 (let's say Suh) jumped up more than 2-3 points as a result of this vote. While we're on the topic, it would be nice if EA would stop grading players like a public school homework problem: it sort of defeats the purpose of using a 0-100 scale if "terrible" is 70 or below. I'd also like to see players rated in categories rather than overall. In addition, the best player at his position should be 100, and the worst player at his position should be 1. Enough with trying to be cute and using your ratings system as an "all time" measurement. No one cares about comparing what a player's Madden rating is now versus what a certain player's rating was 10 years ago, they only care about what they're rated this year. Make Drew Brees a 100 at QB and JaMarcus Russell a 1 at QB. Use all the numbers, dangit.
Was it the beginning of last year when Hennes arm strength dropped like 6 points from the previous year? They had ZERO merit on doing that...that ticked me off.
Fans can effect the rating a maximum of +/- 5. http://www.pastapadre.com/2010/03/31/more-on-the-draft-day-ratings-suggestions I still think its a stupid gimmick tho.
