It's unlike 2K to not send out review copies before launch. They have told review outlets that they'll get copies on the day of launch. There's been different reasons for this in the past. Generally if internal audits review the game poorly they do this to not lose out on day 1 sales. Some companies also have crucial day 1 patches they'd like implemented prior to reviews going out. I'm not sure what the deal is with Mafia 3. I am a fan of the Mafia series so far. I LOVED the first game and thought the 2nd one was fine. I am pumped for the 3rd game. There has been games that did not provide early review copies that turned out great (DOOM).
I love that they decided to go with a black dude as the protagonist (So does Watch Dogs 2, the world sure has changed). Steam is filled with race-baiting protests about the game claiming it's training black people to kill white people. While i think that's all non-sense, it just makes me really want to play Mafia 3.
So, you guys plan on playing it. I have it preloaded on Steam already.

30 FPS lock on PC at launch.
Dud. -
yep. Played (PC version) for like 30 mins and went to bed. They say a patch to unlock is coming out soon. I'll check it out then

That's weird. From what I hear the Mafia series is supposed to be really good.

Looks like a game that was rushed to meet a release date, with the “we’ll patch it later” mentality.
I’m sure it’ll be very fun and playable in 4 months when you can get it for half price on Steam. -
Pretty good on console thus far.

Playthroughs on Youtube look pretty fun. Game is certainly more entertaining than Gears of Steroids 4. -
The story is very good too and the music...the music is fantastic. -
Looks like the patch to remove the 30 FPS cap on PC is out.
-
ill check it out tonight. Had inlaws all weekend. But at midnight, i need to play Gears of Steroids 4 ;)

So... Somewhere under this poorly optimized mess, there's a great story and a fantastic soundtrack. I REALLY want to play through Mafia 3, but I refuse to re-buy it on PS4. I want the PC version to be as awesome as it should be. I'll wait till they patch it one or two more times. Maybe after the holiday madness... then get back to it.

About 10 hours in and the game misses the mark for me. It's not bad, but the gameplay and mission structure lacks originality. Many of the missions largely rely on stealth and feel like the assassination missions from AC Unity and Syndicate but on much smaller scale.

That's not a bad idea. The story and voice actors are amazing. The setting is perfectly flushed out too.Paul 13 likes this. -

Is it true this one gets repetitive?
