Well, I like Marvin Lewis, always have, he can take the undisciplined and turn them into productive players (after 2007 of course) and you have to wonder where Palmer would generate some interest? He is still relatively young but you can tell he has declined, have to wonder if his arm needs surgery and he just is not willing to miss a season.
49ers management is just competent enough to realize that Lewis and Palmer are not the tandem they’re looking for. Better there than Buffalo. Ideally he’d go to some NFC West garbage team.
I think someone will get a steal if they land him, and then send him to Dr James Andrews for a elbow and shoulder touch up. CP messed up his knee, and his elbow was allowed to not be operated on. Love Marvin Lewis, think the Cinci Med Staff is world class bad. As in Reshad Jeanty basically had his career ruined, he was brought into miami for a Fa workout, they told him he needed Knee and Ankle surgery, the Bengals staff said there were no problems, he wound up being waived...the Dolphins Staff was dead right.
The race for the #1 pick and the Luck sweepstakes imo will go to Carolina, yes they have Jimmy Clausen but for a talent like Luck i think its a no brainer.
Padre, trust me, you do NOT want Marvin Lewis or Carson Palmer anywhere near Miami Dolphins Headquarters. As for Palmer's injury, he himself elected not to have the surgery after visiting Dr. James Andrews, and clearly his elbow still has issues, but in that instance, the Bengals medcial staff was right. Marvin Lewis I think is a solid defensive mind, but he is not a good head coaching candidate. His career record is below .500 and the two playoff appearance's have come off of playing weaker schedules. In 2005, I think they went 8-8 the previous year and played a 3rd place schedule. In 2009, they played a last place schedule and were basically treading water the last month and half and made it solely on going 6-0 in the AFC North. I'll grant you he's not playing with a fair deck in Cincinnati as Mike Brown acts as GM, their scouting department consists of the coaches and 4 other personnel (for comparison standpoint, New England has 26 additional scouting personnel) and they've consistently drafted very poorly, but I think at this point the best thing for Marvin is to be a coordinator for a few years and get re-energized. There's an expression we use in Cincinnati, and clearly Marvin Lewis has been "Bengalized".
I know. LeBeau was "Bengalized". He's outstanding as a DC now though. Not saying Marvin won't be a good head coach again, but I think he needs a few years to re-energize himself. Happy Thanksgiving!
