Hmm, but another 68 yr old on Miami area highways?

First off, has Mando been reading KB?
Second, if Schotty has the "fire in his belly" its completely new since he was interviewed a little over a month ago by sirius NFL radio and he flat stated that he was done coaching in the NFL because it was a young man's game and he was too old for it, and that it was time for other guys (like Brian s., who he explicitly mentioned) to get their shot.
Now, unless he's gotten younger, or has completely changed his outlook in the last month, I think this is nonsense. -
I'd love to dismiss this out of hand. But Marty was last seen in the NFL going 14-2.
That said, he's 68. And Marty Ball is the antithesis of exciting offense. And I'll give you one guess as to who he'd hire as his OC.
No thanks.Boik14, brandon27 and Ohio Fanatic like this. -
The most interesting note in Mando's blog is that there are, in fact, mystery candidates who were interviewed today and are scheduled for tomorrow and over the weekend. We now know about Philbin.
I said this is another thread, but the Dolphins policy was only to officially confirm interviews where both the prospect and the organization agree.
Now what assistant wouldn't want their names out there as being interviewed for a HC job? None.
There is only one class of caoch that could be engatively affected by interviewing for a HC job. college coaches.
Hmm, anybody know where Chip Kelly has been recruiting since the rose Bowl?Muck likes this. -

No thx to Marty

I will say this. Marty had a great low budget commercial here in the Virginia Beach area for the Virginia Destroyers about "Marty Ball." If we get these commercials in Miami too that would be awesome.
Side note: He last coached in the UFL for the Virginia Destroyers... the season lasted for 4 games. The "championship" was just the 4th game they played in... -
The game has passed Schotty by, and furthermore, I'm sure that he's content to stay in retirement. At least, I would imagine so.
Hopefully Chuck Pagano is one of the mystery interviews. -
I wouldn't pitch a fit if Schotty was the hire.
-
Lets hire us an Offensive Coordinator, that always seems to work for us. Somebody stop the Merry Go Round, I am getting dizzy.

How hard is to call 2 off tackle dives and a check down pass.. -
No thank you.
-
Just say no to Marty.

Marty? Really? ****, Shula is only 82. Let's hire him back.

Here's the thing with Marty. What are we constantly hearing from the media about the Dolphins job, whether it is true or not? The word is that this job isn't that attractive at this point.
The one thing Marty Schottenheimer does better than any other coach I think I have ever seen in the NFL is go into bad situations and completely turn them around. When he took the Cleveland Browns job full time in 1985, he took over a team that had been to the playoffs twice in the previous 12 seasons. In four seasons, Marty went 44-27 in Cleveland and made the playoffs in every season.
Marty then takes the Kansas City Chiefs head coaching job. Kansas City had been to the playoffs once in the 17 years prior to Marty taking over. Under Marty, Kansas City made the playoffs 7 times in 10 seasons and Marty was 101-58 in Kansas City.
Marty then coached for one year with the Redskins, started out 0-5 but finished strong to go 8-8. He didn't get the chance to turn the Redskins around from the Norv Turner years.
Marty then took over the San Diego Chargers who hadn't been to the playoffs for 6 years prior to him coming on board. Once again, Marty came in and made that team a playoff team, and he coached them to a 14-2 record in his last season. Drew Brees developed under his watch in San Diego, and Drew is very close with Marty's son Brian.
So, here we are with one playoff appearance in the past decade, and the media is constantly talking bad about this football organization. Who available is better than Marty Schottenheimer to turn this thing around and make this a more attractive job? Jeff Fisher can probably do it, but I'd take Marty Schottenheimer in a heartbeat. IMO, we should have waited in 2007 and hired him when San Diego let him go instead of hiring Cam Cameron, but then again, we should have hired him in 1996 as well. -
Why not Schottenheimer?
Because it's 2012, not 1992, or hell, even 2002. -
