Deep down, I had a feeling this would happen. A lot of people said Dook would be the first #1 seed out even though they had the easiest road to the final four. Now they're the last #1 seed left. If Dook gets to the championship game, they'll win it. Hopefully Baylor knocks them out.
Woot, WVU sweet......now I am ok if they can make it to the finals (I picked that), but they cant win it (cause I didnt pick that)....if so, I think I would remain in 1st. Figured it will be Duke vs. WV to decide who goes to final.....everyones left side is blown up.
Thank god Scheyer finally showed up tonight because Singler was as bad as Scheyer had been for the past month. Nolan was great. And the big guys made some plays at key times. This is definitely not the most talented Duke team I've seen. But they are pretty good and they are a tough bunch.
It all comes down to WVU beating Duke, but not winning the Championship for me. Very suprised I have lasted this long @ #1 spot.
YeaH Duke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyone else love seeing butler get to the title game heyward played his butt off they deserve it cinderella story just like villanova many years ago i hope they win it all go west virginia i would love to see them whip up on duke
Oh sure, but tbh this entire "March Madness" bit makes slightly nauseous to listen to the coverage on ESPN radio for the last 3 weeks. Sorta liked Duke, don't mind WVa or MSU either.
God, anyone see the injury to Dayshawn Butler? He was in AGONIZING pain. I really feel for that kid. He really seems like a good kid. Seeing Bob Huggins consoling him nearly had me to tears. I hope it isn't as serious as it looks.
Yep, and pretty damn classy of Higgins to say "They NEVER foul"! Really? Hey Higgins, how long till your program is back on probation? - I am sick and tired of everybody taking pot-shots at Doook! Unless some refereeing conspiracy emerges proving they constantly get the call, STFU!!!!! I know its gonna piss some people off, but guess what. Duke plays very fundamentally sound ball! They are far from being the best group of athletes, and most won't ever play in the NBA. But, don't diminish what these kids do on the court. They are soundly beating much more talented teams. They are constantly proving that a good shooter beats a slam dunk any day of the week. They are also proving that good fundamentals, and great unselfish teamwork can beat any "All-star" team. Like it or not, Duke is what's good about Collegiate basketball. All that being said, if they lose to Butler, then my hats off to the winning team. Butler is also what's good about collegiate basketball.
The LITTLE Engine that could. Come on Butler!! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n3E3bEH1Ov8&feature=related"]YouTube- Hoosiers - Gene Hackman Speech[/ame]
You know the "Game winning shot" kid from Hoosiers Bobby Plump (Jimmy Chitwood in the film)....went on to play at Butler. He was on ESPN...says that victory in Hoosiers and this Butler run (as an Alumn) is quite similar. And the actual Coach of Midland that the movie is based on, at the time of the actual HS championship, Coach Marvin Wood had been a recent graduate of Butler University (26yrs old only), where he played both baseball and basketball. At Butler, Marvin played on two Hoosier Classic championship teams (1947-48 and 1948-49) when Butler defeated both Indiana and Purdue in the same tournament. http://www.chasingthefrog.com/reelfaces/hoosiers.php
they did the same thing against MSU and won the game butler blew early chances in the paint with Howard imo they did what they had to do to keep it close couldn't finish they should be the champs but didnt get it done
I love this group of guys. Scheyer, Thomas, and Zoubek are what Duke is all about. They deserved this tonight.
no mention of singler talk about an unsung hero butler missed bunnies all night easily their ballgame
Singler is our best all around player. He was great on both ends of the court. I just wanted to highlight the seniors because they struggled, by Duke standards, at the beginning of their careers. Singler and Nolan Smith were great throughout the tourney and helped bridge the gap until Scheyer broke out of his slump. Butler had some open looks inside that they didn't convert. But they made a fair amount of their 3s and FTs. But I don't think it was easily their game. Even if they make those open shots I don't think they open up a lead any bigger than what we had all night. Every time they jumped ahead we responded immediately.
