I think all of us can agree that Thigpen has been pretty rough in the return game this year, but I can't help but be impressed when he gets on the field on offense. He actually has the potential to be a very good third down back IMO

I've expressed how much I dislike his returning time and time again.... But I have no problem with him being included in the actual running offense. I see last game as just a taste of what he is capable of.

Either way, It's the least that should be done because I don't think his returns this year can justify a roster spot for just that.

To be fair to Thigpen, every time he has a decent return it is immediately erased by a penalty.

I think players like Danny Woodhead, Darren Sproles, and Bernard in Cincinnati are very valuable players to have. Im not sure that Thigpen can be on their level but the guy makes plays when he gets the ball. Eventually we could look to upgrade his position but I like what he's done during his time in Miami.

Half the distance to the goal. Doesn't help.

Would like to see him get more reps on offense though.

So the decent return is sprung by a penalty......not really proof hes worth a damn.

I think his return ability has been hampered by him bulking up a little. The holes in a kick return are so small that the difference between a return to the 20 and taking one to the house is less than half a step. He doesn't seem to have quite as much speed as last year. But his versatility is still quite valuable and could be exploited more on offense.

I do believe our blocking on ST sucks and yes all the penalties are killing us. I would love to see him more involved in our O!

I think kickoff returns are clearly disappearing from the game in general to the point where having a specialised returner may end up being a thing of the past. Thigpen will need to keep developing in the passing game to justify his spot next year. Punt return wise, either the blocking has to be really good or the returner needs to be a truly special improviser or utter lunatic, none of those three things are currently in evidence.

As much as I love having a Hoosier on the team, I do agree that we can upgrade the position. Having said that, there aren't a lot of Darren Sproles floating around the league. We have the right idea with Thigpen returning kicks and potentially a 3rd down back, but whoever is his replacement needs to fill both roles.

My issue isn't that he cant have good returns. Its that in order for him to have a great one all the stars must align. He just doesn't have the wiggle you want to see in tight spaces.
