They took Collingsworth over him Formal announ. tomm. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/07/06/marino-dropped-from-inside-the-nfl/
I stopped watching that show when Len Dawson and Nick Bonoconti(sp?) were dropped. Bob Costas is awful.
There is a god. It was annoying to see him pick against the Jets almost every time though. Now we only have to deal with watching him on The NFL Today while Boomer throws low blows at him all day.
Well I don't know what to say about this. He picked the Fins to win or whenever the jets were mentioned he pick the oppenent?
It was absolutely the best when it was just Len and Nick. When Collinsworth showed up, it was like Seasame Street's, "One of these things doesn't belong here" songs. Chris Collinsworth is the worst.
I must be stupid or strange, a lineup of Brown, Simms and Collinsworth sounds like a decent show to me. I'll watch it.
I was never crazy about Marino's on air ability anyway. But Collinsworth and Simms? Sounds kinda bland to me.
I dont mind CC that much, hes better than alot of people out there. And ROFL at the Boomer and Dan comment, so true, Boomer is an ***.
I liked the original two guys, Bounicotti & Lenny Dawson. Dawson was great, he always kept it about football, whereas Collinsworth & King are all about the human interest stories and other peripheral issues like the camera man's family & the cheerleaders pet dog. That show took a nose dive as soon as Peter King took over. I thought Danny was funny & genuine but he is pretty limited in terms of analysis and commentary. I can't imagine what Huizinga was thinking when he hired Marino, but to be fair to Danny, he looks like an astrophysicist next to Boomer Easiason. Boomer is really horrible, and to top it off he is always angry and bitter sounding about everything. He completely destroyed that stereotype about QB's being brainy.
Thats what I was thinking Collinsworth can get a bit annoying at times, but Brown is a great host, Simms is intelligent. I think it will work well. Id probably watch it.
As for the good, no more Costas I can't stand that obnoxious runt. I like JB, since I have always been partial to the NFL on FOX show, and JB and Collingsworth worked good on that show. Also since I prefer Showtime to HBO these days(I like Dexter a lot, and Diary of a Callgirl is cool, and HBO has bored me since Six Feet Under ended), it is a good thing. It's a shame that the Man did not make the cut for the transistion, but then again he is not that great on the air.
I am sure Dan will get a gig with the NFL Network working next to Eisen. I can't stand Collinsworth/Costas on HBO, or Shannon Big Mouth Sharpe on CBS, and I am sure Dan would rather work with other people.
I don't know what happened to Costas. I remember way back when I was a little kid he used to do an NFL show with Pete Axel- who passed away recently and Ahmad Rashad (before he fell in love with Michael Jordan & the NBA). It was the best NFL show on TV. This was before Prime time. It was a while back. He was a completely different guy back then.
I only buy the premium sports channels on DirecTV (Setanta Sports, FOX Sports Net channels, MLB Extra Innings and NFL Sunday Ticket). I have TMC & FOX Movie Channel as part of my basic, that's enough movies for me.
LOL, maybe they're adding an R rating and some skin shots... LOL! Showtime... That sounds like something Jim and his "Clones" could have fun with.
Showtime used to be the place a series could go to die peacefully. Dexter seems to have changed all of that though, what a great show. I heard that the creator(s) of 6 Ft Under are the ones behind Generation Kill, the story about marines in Iraq. Should be interesting to see how that turns out. HBO has been marketing it pretty heavy lately.
