This back and forth love/hate relationship the forum has with Chad Henne has exhausted me & more importantly is meaningless. everything is ultimately resolved on the field, by game 4 we'll know what's what & who's who
my only expectation is a positive one that very few of my divided forum brethren seem to embrace:
1) Marino has stated Chad Henne has the capacity to be a good NFL QB. I know there are some amongst us that believe they know more than Marino or that he is in someway not an honest broker when it comes to the Miami Dolphins. however, I think Marino is a probable pundit and a credible source of honest information.
2) we have a tremendous investment in the grooming of Chad Henne to be the starter. if I read Marino correctly, he thinks Chad can manage the offense better than most, but does not consider him to have elite potential @ the position. having said that, all we need is a "good" QB to accompany an otherwise excellent roster to make a run in 2011.
3) the middle ground: I am not prepared to give anything to Henne that is not earned. He must prove himself, no one should anoint him. let the playing field be the judge and jury. I suggest that everyone hold on to their panties and darts, throw nothing until he actually makes the turn or really screws it up. there will be plenty of time for hysteria one way or the other once the season is defined.
Good luck to Chad Henne, as he goes so goes our season!

I've posted this before: the offensive line is my only real concern in 2011. And that is not a great concern considering the talent & depth @ our disposal. The one thing Tony Sparano unquestionably knows is the offensive line. he can fix it. it is inconceivable to me that Henne cannot manage/excel with this offense, if the line is doing their job.

They be flies in yo' ointment, 23rd...
LOL, the funny thing is there is more of a commotion going on when Henne does well. This team always seems to fall flat on its face when given the fans unconditional support. So instead of saying good luck, it may be more appropriate to say...
Good luck, Chad Henne, try not to suck so bad! -

The only reason Henne is still named as our starter is because Sporano and Ireland do not have the luxury of developing another QB before being fired. It is Henne or bust for them.
-
it is what it is. there is no second option, only a second chance for henne. better to wish him well & leave it @ that... the field will tell the story. we can only hope for a good season this year & that means henne must step up & there is no reason why he won't do exactly that... and every reason why he will. only time will tell

In several of your posts, you mentioned this "four games " as some sort of dividing line between benching Henne and tossing him to the side and going out and looking for the next Marino. Forget Dan Marino he's not coming back. There is not going to be a four-game dividing line. Henne is our quarterback this season come he!! or high water.
If during the course of the season, Henne does not show the improvement that we all expect of them then he will be gone. Of course, that will not really matter at that point because Sparano am possibly Ireland will both be gone along potentially with Henne. Then Jeff Fisher or Bill Cowher or whoever Ross goes out and gets will have to worry about replacing Henne. As a matter of fact, even if Henne does well and we still can't overcome New England and jests then he may yet be replaced by whoever the next regime is.steveincolorado and shula_guy like this. -

well lets see what Chad can do with the idiot Dan Henning and Iam not as high on our receivers as most folks are , yet I am warming up to bess more and more . the main thing that concerns me is winning in the regular season for, we have the pats on opening day so we better win that game for sure.

the offensive line has to be fixed before henne has a chance to produce effectively
this is not the new template for an excuse, just the natural order of things:
offensive line gets the push, the running game gets a start & passing lanes open -

Well, I guess we agree to disagree. The issue on this team that is holding us back right now is the OL...Period. Saturday's game apparently is just one more example of that (although I haven't seen the game yet, just going by most of the threads and posts)...
The natural progression as you said, starts with the OL. Right now, that is not happening and yet Tony is supposed to be an OL guru ?? What gives here ?? -

I have to admit this whole Henny Penny “The sky is falling” stuff is really cracking me up.
The Dolphins have been playing the preseason without the best offensive lineman in the NFL and Fasano is easily one of the best blocking tight ends in the game today. Incognito is a proven vet with a nasty disposition and Pouncey has been holding his own so far as a rookie center. That leaves two spots up in the air with Murtha having a nice chance of grabbing the RT spot.
I’m going to let the preseason play out before jumping off the ledge. -

Well, I suspect we see Henne blow away the Gus Frerotte level of play he has shown, he came close last yr in an offense that Mark Schlereth said:
"Was drawn up on a pizza box"
When the offense goes 3 Wr's a Qb will put up numbers, now whether or not he becomes "the man" remains to be seen.
Would be nice with as long as we have suffered without even a solid Qb let alone one who produces.steveincolorado and smahtaz like this. -

So...you posted non-stop about how he sucked. Now YOU'RE exhausted? And you keep talking about the panty thing that YOU came up with.
So what's the deal with hypocrisy [/Seinfeld] -
1)girls friends are personal issues but since you brought it up, you might persuade her to accompany you to a game, then @ the peak of your ecstasy & hysteria over a completed pass, have her throw her own panties. It would get you off the hook for looking stupid, while allowing you to experience a major sense of self-fulfillment. And it may very well prove to be more interesting than watching the actual game. Think about it.
2) I've never considered myself a bonified dart thrower, more of an honest broker with an edge. Having said that, you're hardly a stranger to aggressive and partisan play on the forum, now are you? People who live in glass houses...
3) One thing you always are is a colorful poster & good friend. Never lose that special sense of humor that has become your calling card on the forum. I always look forward to reading your posts.
I reiterate:
the middle ground: I am not prepared to give anything to Henne that is not earned. He must prove himself, no one should anoint him. let the playing field be the judge and jury. Thanks, I think we gotta laugh sometimes around here. Can't be all serious and humdrum all the time. That's one thing I like about Todd so much, along with his being very knowledgeable, he isn't afraid to have a laugh and be self deprecating at times.steveincolorado likes this. -

The questions with Henne are really two pronged: 1) Can he improve to alevel where you can win some games and make the playoffs provided you are good elsewhere; and 2) whether he is a QB that can take a team to a super bowl?
Even I agree that Henne could get a good team to the playoffs if he improves even slightly from what we have seen. Even last year, if he had only thrown 13 interceptions instead of 19, while still alot, is probably good enough that we win 9 games, and sometiems that's good enough for the playoffs.
The problem this franchise finds itself in is that we may not know the answer to #2, even at the end of the eyar, and a decision needs to be amde as Henne is a free agent. Do you pay him $9-10 millino per year, which is starting QB money? Or do you move on?
If it's a enw staff, I think the answer is obvious, if not, who knows. -
Friend schmolioot:
personally, I hope he can make it to the end of the year:
the offensive line has to be fixed before henne has a chance to produce effectively
this is not the new template for an excuse, just the natural order of things:

would be nice to at least make the post-season this year!schmolioot likes this.
