But I am embarassed every time Ginn meekly runs out of bounds or quickly lays those proud Dolphins colors down onto the dirt.

He'd never last in a motorcycle club like Hell's Angels with that attitude. I always loved the quote from the biker movie "Stone Cold" where the leader describes their logo on their jackets:

I feel the same way about those Dolphins uniforms.

Sure, Ginn makes a difference, but I can't respect the way he plays the game scared. I won't argue his abilities though.

I don't see any of the Super Bowl WR's being overly physical guys - when you are smaller than everyone else you gotta play smart.

 

The 08 stats you post for ginn are the best of any Phins receiver in the past four years.

One can argue that is like "In the valley of the blind, the man with one eye is king." However, if he can do around the same this season, he is well worth keeping.

 

Okay, I'll send a warning shot across the bow ... What Marino says is great, but it doesn't mean anything if Ginn doesn't have the ball in his hands. You can send Ginn deep every play and all it ends up being is some nice conditioning wind sprints. It's not just the speed, you have to be able to get the ball in his hands to be able to take advantage of his speed. And that means that Ginn needs to (re)learn how to catch the football and run better routes so he can be open enough for our QBs to get him the ball. If he can do that, then Ginn's speed becomes the true weapon that Marino speaks of.

Dan is an opinion I'm just not ready to argue with. IMVHO David Lee and our WR's coach (Dorrel?) should have Henne throwing about 500-1,000 passes EVERY day this off season to Ginn long, and every other kind of route to our other WR's. Get these guys used to Henne's velocity and trajectories.

Then maybe Henne & Ginn connect on a few deep TD passes and the league HAS to start respecting Ginn's speed, opening up the middle & sort routes for our other receivers.

 

I do! That whole article is PR Bull****. Listen you tell me if Dan was the Quarterback and Ginn was his #1 and in two games he clearly cost you the game, while in many others his dropped passes cost points on the board that Dan would say this crap.

Ginn's had his chance here. It's not going to work out move him for a bag a donuts because at this point hes setting the franchise back.

Ginn had a stretch of like 5-6 bad games - the other 2.5 years hands haven't been an issue.

Bess had a bunch of drops in a 5-6 game span. So did Fasano. It happens.

 

Dan would have worked him to death, no doubt.
Then if he kept messing up, Ginn would have probably really ran and hid out somewhere. It wouldn't have been tolerated by the Great One. Just ask some of his old receivers.

 

WAY - WAY -too many of his routes are on the outside just as many of them are comebacks or other types of routes that do not enhance YAC. I'm convinced if he were getting slants, posts, streaks, seams, etc he'd look better.... significantly.

 

Marino the commentator, has a lot more faith in Ginn than Marino the QB would have.

Indeed. It's only the best because Greg Camarillo got hurt in the 11th game. And Davone Bess caught 20 more passes than that this season.

That said, I'm confident that the Dolphins will listen to any offers for Ginn. But they won't cut him just to cut him. I fully expected Ginn to be in camp come August, regardless of who else we acquire. It doesn't hurt anything to keep him around even if we get a #1 type.

 

Well except for the fact that those routes are in the middle of the field, where Ginn automatically drops to the ground like he was on fire.

Ginn doesn't have the toughness, mentally or physically to ever be someone we can count on to get much YAC. He's just the wrong guy to expect that from, other than on rare occasions.

 

He better learn to throw southpaw then , if he is going to throw a 1000 passes every day...

Couldn't keep my eyes open when I saw this last night to comment. Thanks for posting.

We finally have a quarterback who can take advantage of the one thing Ginn can do best which should be a perfect reason to keep him on. There have been many times when he has gotten behind the defense only to see the pass either miss or go in another direction. Henne will take those opportunities and produce points with Ginn.

Some people know their physical limitations and you have to accept that. Granted I do not get to see as many games as I would like but for the most part I think the guy tries to get the most yards out of each play before going out of bounds or down before a big hit. Is it "manly" football? No. Is it something the keyboard warriors find distasteful? Yes. But in the end Ginn came up as a kid that could not break any tackle and now shows the ability to get through at least the weaker attempts to produce additional yards. Is he done improving in that area? Probably not though I don't expect him to be some after the catch league leader.

After a poor 2009 I'm looking forward seeing to a vastly improved player in 2010 willing to do more for a QB who can get him the ball where he can do the most damage. Its what us Dolphins fans all want anyway.

 

I disagree. Using Ginn as a decoy was fine his rookie season but he is a big boy now. He needs to produce. Marino is just being politically correct. He has no reason to slam Ginn in public. Ask him his opinion privately and I beat he would have quite a few negative things to say.

If we had a true No 1 ,Ginn would be more effective .

In effect he stretches the field which opens up space for the other receivers.

Having said that I would throw long to him more often than we have in order to convince opposing defenses that he is a threat.

Do you remember Marino? Really?

Marino would have skinned Ginn alive by the third quarter of the first game and used his hide for a sunshade if Ginn had played with him.

Marino was not known for his patience or tolerance when the game was on the line and he thought a player was underperforming.

He must be getting mellow in his old age.

He wouldn't have had to catch Marino's passes. The ball would have been impaled into his feaking chest. No chance to drop balls when they're stuck between broken ribs.

Ginn is a chump.

 

ginn, bess, camarillo and hartline are all inter-changeable if you ask me. None has proven themselves to be better than the others.

The only difference between them is where they were drafted. I've seen them all drop passes they should have caught. they've all made some pretty crazy plays.

Camarillo is the most consistent WR but he's already hit the ceiling on his potential IMO. Either way, we need a bigger, better, and more talented wr before guys like ginn and bess can be fully utilized.
