You knew Don Shula would be there.....any word on any former teammates that attended ? The Marks Brothers ? Dwight Stevenson had to have been there.....
Thank you. Just beautiful. That love between father and son. My prayers are with the family and friends.
Marino raised his voice into a joking tone now and looked at Don Shula in one of the front pews. "No offense, Coach Shula," he said. "He was my greatest coach." May he rest in peace.
Yer such a softy Travis. J/K. I cried when I heard about it the other day. I knew how close they were.
Chris was downstairs in the basement doing a load of laundry. When he came up I was sitting on the coffee table in the living room watching the CBS pre-game show and they had just showed the part of his HOF speech to his dad. He thought something "really important" happened as he said. He just couldn't believe I was crying about "that". Oh - the non football fan who doesn't understand how we feel about the players on our team and their families. OT: When Olindo was on the team his dad Geno used to come for several games to Miami Mike's - very nice and down to earth.
I know what you mean. Danny just said, "really". He used to love football, I don't know what happened to him. Brain damage, maybe?
Chris never liked any sports. I grew up in a sports watching family - every sport - all season. I just blame the fact that he's a computer "geek".
Understand where he's coming from. Lost my Dad two years ago last week to lung cancer. He was my hero too.
Very sorry to hear that bro. I lost mine 2 years ago as well to Alzheimers. Both diseases are very painful and ravaging. My grandpa died of lung cancer.
So sorry to hear that Aqua. I lost my mom several years ago, due to a stroke. SHE was my hero and friend.
This is an perfect time for reflection, knowing the personal feelings and how close Dan Marino was with his father. I lost my dad in 1971 and still miss him, he was my hero and my best friend. No matter what was happening in my life there was one constant and that was my dad. He was a big Dolphin fan from their beginnings and he and I would watch all of the Dolphin games we could together. After all of these years I can still hear my dad's laughter, hear him call my name and see his smile. They are never really gone because you keep them alive in your heart and your memories.
