Drew Brees needs just 305 yards to break Marino's single season passing record with 2 games left. Unless a defense absolutely stuffs and dominates the Saints, it will fall. Stood for a while though.

Kind of ironic (and obviously painful) that the QB the Dolphins let go to the Saints would be the one to do it. First a Super Bowl and now the single season passing record...the hits just don't stop on the Dolphins long trail of franchise mistakes. Still, better Brees than anyone else.

Records are meant to be broken, Plus we all know Marino would double that yardage record in today's NFL.

This is the second time Brees is attempting to break it. Dude is an animal.

Marino had to do it back when defense was still allowed, still the greatest ever. Modern passing records are inflated. Love Brees I wanted him coming out of college ****ing Wannestadt.

Marino did it in his 2nd year and also broke the TD record in the same season.

If it must fall, Drew Brees is certainly one guy I wouldn't mind seeing break it. However, I think in the context of the rules of the Roger Goodell Football League, Dan Marino would've had quite a bit more than 5,084 yards in the 1984 season.

Yes, when we find a QB and get out of the dumps of the NFL. Then we can forget all of it, not just Brees. Plus it's only 5 years...still stings when you see the direction of the two franchises.

And yeah, Marino would've had even more with today's rules.

Once Peyton Manning whined about the Patriots and the NFL changed the 5 yard rule/enforcement all of Marino's single season records started to fall.

    Coincidence? I think not.

    Not necessarily true.

1984 was an epic year for offenses. Eric Dickerson also set the single season rushing mark. Marino's record might've been better than 1984 if he played today, but it wouldn't be a whole lot different IMO.

Just looked it up. The average passing yards/gm for the league in 1984 was 206 yards. This year it's 229 yards.

Looks like Brady could also break the record if Bill doesn't sit him
