With all of this Ronnie brown trade talk, i have a very strong feeling that we make play for Marion barber. Do anyone else think so??

Doubt it very much. If we see Ronnie traded away, I believe we'll look for his replacement in the draft.

^ this, and while i love barber's toughness, if i had to choose between him and ronnie, i'd go for the latter.

Ok, let me get this straight...we dump a stud rb, maybe get a pick, certainly not commensurate with his ability (at least not for a running back, we all know the devalue-ization of running backs right now), and we trade that pick away for an average rb in Barber ?? What exactly does that do for us ??

Madden is not the way to determine real life trades...

If Ronnie is traded I believe Jonathan Dwyer or Anthony Dixon will be targeted.

I can't see the logic in exchanging one injury-prone RB with a lot of mileage for another. IMO, it's more likely we trade Ronnie and get an impact between-the-tackles power RB in the draft. I'm not worried about passing up on a Matthews since historically, there've been some mid rounders who've excelled, especially if you have a strong OL as Denver has proven in the Shanahan era, and the jest last season with Jones.

In reality if you look at the numbers it's very close
    Rushing attempts for

    Barber...929
    Brown....928

    total rushing yards
    Barber...3984
    Brown...4081..
Brown has 97 more rushing yards over 5 seasons

    Touchdowns rushing
    Barber...43
    Brown...31
Barber with 12 touchdowns more than Brown

    Receptions
    Barber...163 receptions
    Brown....151 receptions
Barber by 12 reception over 5 seasons

    Reception yards
    Barber...1231
    Brown....1249
Brown with 18 more yards receiving over 5 seasons

    Receiving touchdowns
    Barber...6
    Brown....2
Barber by 4 tds over 5 seasons

    Other than total touchdowns
Barber with 49 and Brown with 33
everything else is almost equal or very close

Barber has missed 5 games over 5 seasons
Brown has missed 20 games over 5 seasons

With these numbers( tds)and Browns injuries
Brown is also a year and half older than Barber
I would have to say I think Barber is the better running back by a small margin even though Brown is the wildcat
    engine.

I don't especially want him. Rather draft CJ Spiller if we went that route.

If you prorate that by games played, Brown is clearly a better back. Brown has matched Barber in nearly every category in almost an entire season less...(15 games less)...

The numbers we're missing here are the contract numbers. I believe that if we trade Brown one of the main reasons is the desire not to pay him a big contract. Barber signed a big contract in 2008, but I don't know how much was upfront and what his yearly cost to us would be.

The thing is, Brown has less games played because he can't stay on the field. You can prorate all you want but the fact is that Ronnie's evenness with Barber is due to his inability to keep playing. I'm not in favor of this move but wouldn't you rather get about the same production without him missing games than wishing you had Ronnie during a crucial game at 8-6? There's also the use of Tashard Choice and Felix Jones that has lessened his workload. Then you consider that Ronnie began his career as a starter while Barber's first year as a full time starter was 2008. Between 2005 and 2007 Barber had only started 3 games. Imagine how much better his stats would be if he was the starter. I'm not advocating getting Barber and losing Ronnie. I'm saying you should research his play circumstances. I'd love to have Barber and Ronnie actually.

And neither is ignorance. Both Marion Barber and Ronnie have 5 years under their belt and at this point of their careers, Barber has 49 TD's while Ronnie only has 33. And guess what, Barber only had 1 more attempt than Ronnie. Ronnie does have 97 more rushing yards, but I'll take the 16 more TD's over an extra 97 yards. So according to those numbers, how exactly did you come to the conclusion that Ronnie is a stud while Barber is average? Yards-wise they are comparable but putting up points is no contest in favor of Barber.
