Does anyone know who this is. I am not sure but is it the same Matt Higgins who was the Executive VP of Business Operations of the New York Jets?
Interesting if it is.
Higgins' "Vigor and Vibe"
Higgins, who at 37 can still qualify for a few more "40 Under 40" awards, one of which he earned from Crain's and another from Sports Business Journal, has brought a particular kind of vigor and vibe to the Jets during his time in the EVP's office. One element of his approach has been his and the team's embracing of social media.
"I believe too often in sports that when someone says something that creates a controversy, the blame often falls on transparency, which to me is a copout," Higgins told newyorkjets.com. "At the end of the day, we've made sure everyone in the organization is ready to deal with the media. I'm really proud how we've taken transparency to a whole other level, and thanks to Woody, that will endure a long time. That manifests itself in our passionate following in social media, on our Website, and the way our fans touch the team."

It's the same Matt Higgins. Most of Ross's football posse have Jets ties.

Former Jets president.

2014 shoud be pretty average.ASOT, finfansince72 and finyank13 like this. -
Trojan Horse.

That's the main problem hiring castoffs from a suck organization. Hiring guys from perennial powers is better option.

He's a cancer survivor IIRC.

Not much of a surprise given Ross' connections to the jests over the years. Afterall, he's a NYer, not a Floridian... Doesn't matter tho, cause he still makes the decisions and when he does or when he chooses to share those decisions with us, we'll know something...

I can't speak to his football acumen and it may not even be part of his job, but Higgins does seem to be an improvement upon the policies and approach to the media that were prevalent and have lingered since the Parcells era. That is one area where I don't see the Jets as a failure.

But being successful as an NFL owner generally requires more effort than it seems that Ross wants to put in. That is why we are what we are. It starts at the top.Itsdahumidity likes this. -

Tell that to the Mara's....or to Lurie or to the Bidwells...I don't think how much or how little the PR image is of the owner's involvement in the operations of the football folks is pertinent to how successful they are or are not. Afterall, the 'loudest' owners, Kraft, JJones, Snyder, Al Davis (when he was still with us) don't have more or less success on the field, just more publicity regarding the owner...He has the right idea...let the football folks do their thing, but he hasn't really found the right combo of folks to do it with. It has to do with finding the right combo of staff, coaches and players... We aren't there yet...
And I doubt seriously, even with the current situation, that he is sorry he acquired the Fins...Guys with that kind of success in their lives don't feel sorry for themselves... -

The best thing an owner can do is hire good football people and stay out of the way. Ross has had some issues in the football people department. If he made a couple changes thr perception of him would quivkly change.
It isn't magic. -
