DISCLAIMER: The only thing more annoying than people that blow every little thing out of proportion are the people that accuse people of blowing things out of proportion, which is more common than the former. No I'm not saying this has ANY EFFECT WHATSOEVER on the quarterback race. But it was not a smart thing to say, nonetheless.

He does have the rep of being better in games than practice, right?

I guess that's why. I would also say its that lack of drive that separates him from better QBs. I mean you can't play at the highest level and disregard practice, unless you're unnaturally gifted like Marino.

Yeah I agree not the smartest thing to say heading into camp. I personally think that practice should translate to the game. Like Sparano

would say "some guys flash in practice and don't show up in the game, and some look horrible in practice, and flash when it comes game

time". But when it comes to trying to show what you got for a new coaching staff , I think Moore needs to do well in practice if he wants

to win the job week one.

I think deep down every coach believes practice translates to games and they don't like mediocre practice players that rely on an ability to "turn it on" during games.

I think it is generally the case where practice translates to games.

Coaches like to play the percentages for the most part. If a player isn't that good in practice, how would you know if he is the type that plays better in games? Preseason?

Might not matter to him, but in general good practices by the team will lead to better play on Sundays. Chemistry developed between the QB and his WRs or TEs usually happens during practice.

It does if someone else is practicing better.

..... true, and if Garrard should have a bad game you might get a chance to back that up, amIright? :shifty:

The problem with not doing well in practice is your teammates suffer. How are they going to get timing, rhythm down etc.

Someone is listening to Dan Le Batard today.

Moore is correct that games matter most, but practice prepares you for the game. Pick it up, Matt.

I don't listen to anyone during the day. I'm radio-less.

It's just a pet peeve of mine. Everyone loves to indulge themselves by being the guy that stands up and claims to be the sane person in a room full of overreactors, even if nobody's overreacting.

I don't like over reactions. I don't think you are in this case though. That was a stupid thing to say while trying to compete for a job! Would be funny to hear Philbins honest thoughts.

Put yourself in Ben's shoes though. You're not an evaluator and you don't pretend to be one. This guy leads you to a 6-3 stretch to end the season including some wins where they looked like not just a football team that squeaks out victories (which happened all too often under Sparano) but a team that flat out buries bad opponents and then hangs tough with good ones (the Super Bowl champs, for example). Then you've got all these NFL insiders likes coaches and people that you talk to telling you and other reporters that Matt Moore is the guy to watch for on the Dolphins, not David Garrard.

Objectively speaking if you're not one of those kinds of people that loves to dig into the tape and really dissect things then yeah you should be pretty convinced Moore's going to end up starting and maybe even doing pretty well.

Le Batard (actually, Stugotz) had a multi-segment game: "Nothing more annoying than…" Thus why CK seemed to be listening to Le Batard.

Also, CK, you have an iPhone. You are NEVER radio-less, sir.

To that point, Tannehill's timing and ball placement have been cited as reasons the dropsies have followed him from TAMU to Miami, and that could be why he's being kept as 3rd string. They want the best practice performers getting the 1st string snaps because it's more productive for everyone.

I guess relatively speaking Garrard and Moore just have so much more experience feeling and adjusting to the speed, but I would think that Tanny and his knowledge of the system would be fine in an ota setting, a little ahead of schedule.

Anyone who has actually played the game knows you can not practice all the time at 100%. Maybe you practice full speed 25% of the time. If so there would be more injuries then we have players, especially in the NFL.

If MMoore said that, I think he did Garrard a favor, I suspect Sherman and Philbin are going to put the best QB on the field Game 1 of regular season strictly by who WINS the QB batle in TC (i.e.: practice). If Moore thinks he can talk his way into winning the starting spot, IMO he's almost guaranteeing Garrard the starting spot Game 1 Reg. Season. Not hearing much out of Garrard, seems to me he's a bit of a crafty veteran who does his talking on the practice field as well as he does in real games, and he has the talent to get to the Pro Bowl with a team that IMHO had lousy receivers that year.

Moore had better turn that attitude around (IF he really said this) before tomorrow. OMG TC starts TOMORROW!!!

Pardon me I think I may have to clean my undies in front.

25% is an extremely low number. Some of my most intense times on a football field in HS and college were against my teammates at practice. If you're not working your *** off, you're not getting better.

Moore might know Garrards back has him there only if Moore goes down hurt. They might not want to throw Garrard into full game mode unless they have no choice.
