Don't disagree with you, you just save some for game time. When I played, we broke it off on people. I knocked one guy unconscious once in practice. Just didn't practice at 100% all the time is all. Not making excuses for Moore's comment, just not sure what he really meant by it is all.

Depends on the mental capabilities of ants. Some of those big-headed ones in Africa look like they could do some telepathic **** if necessary.

I doubt Moore being more of a gamer than a good practice player is a conscious choice on his part.
One analogy I can think of is from when I used to do a lot of deer and elk hunting. I knew guys who were fine marksmen when target shooting, but were not necessarily so when they had a running deer or elk in their sights. They'd get too excited and not maintain their cool.
Others, more of the Matt Moore types I guess, were nothing more than average shooting at a paper target, but reacted with deadly efficiency when they jumped a buck or a bull. I remember one old friend of my dad, who had someone else sight in his hunting rifle because he just wasn't very good at target shooting. But, he seldom missed when out actually hunting.

So, I guess I agree with Matt Moore's feelings on the subject to a degree. I think our coaches are smart enough to make the best choice at QB for the team to win the most games this season.

See to me, the guys that can shoot the target and not the game may never be able to improve. The guy that can shoot the game and not the target merely has a mental block.

That's the Matt Moore type of shooter/hunter and he may never completely get over that mental block.

If I had to venture a guess as to why Moore is better in games than practice it's because of his handling of the blitz. His pure passing skills have never been all that impressive. In practice you don't head in with game plans and film study and a keen awareness of tendencies, trying to slow things up at the line pre-snap and recognize things, etc. You're executing things the way they're drawn up.

In the games you've got film study, you've got game plans, you're recognizing tendencies, you're slowing things up at the line of scrimmage, doing things to get the defense to declare itself, and then you're doing things with pressure in your face. I'm not convinced a practice atmosphere can really replicate this.

In 2009, Matt Moore had a 97 passer rating throwing into the blitz. In 2011, he had 99 passer rating throwing into the blitz. In 2010 it was only a 58 passer rating but that was still better than his 54 rating when not blitzed.

I think practice settings just emphasize how purely good of a passer you are, how good you are at executing plays, etc. That's not his thing.

I think his mental block (or anyone's in that type of scenario) is based on just not thinking the practice/target is important.
