Matt Moore is not getting the "savior Qb" treatment..thank goodness

    I have never watched the Big Lebowski all the way through Mr C, just bits and pieces over the yrs.



    To me, it is the idea that "you will never win without a franchise Qb" that has taken root, ie, anything less then Brady or Manning or Rodgers and you are better off trying to get the #1 overall pick and selecting the #1 Qb in that yrs' draft. That heightened sense of importance causes strange reactions.

    For me, heck we won with Jay Fiedler, who knows better coaching and we could have done more, but that Qb is made to be so important the idea that a running game can get it done is just not accepted even after watching the Jets go to back to back AFC Title games on the back of such an approach.

    I kid you not Mr C, two practices in, and Daniel Thomas is already looked at like JJ Johnson by a certain well known Dolphins blogger...2 practices in! No pads, no hitting, and a 230 pd rb looks like a dud?

    It's also the one position that provides the average fan with a zillion easily researchable statistics to "prove" his particular opinion. The sheer amount of statistical arguments I've seen about Chad Henne on this board is mindboggling. I've seen anything from 3rd down % to deep throw % to relation with the YPA of the running game, and I'm pretty sure I missed the one about shoe size corresponding with QB success. I almost feel like an old geezer for looking at YPA and TD/INT and rating and still thinking that this has always been the reliable way of judging a quarterback's performance. It's so 1980s, I reckon. If you don't subscribe to Pro-Football-Focus-Numbers-We-Recently-Pulled-Out-Of-Our-Arse.net, you're sooooo out.

    1. IMO, Pads, it is easily a top 10 all time movie, maybe top 5. I highly recommend it when you have time to sit down and relax and can watch it all the way through at one sitting. It is very funny and maybe the all time most quoted movie. It is said to be very popular in Germany too. I read that Dresden has a huge cult following.

    2. Can you share a link to that blog, please, kind Sir Padre?? I'd like to read the ramblings of someone who already compares Thomas to our biggest all time bust RB.

    It is. In fact, it's so popular that the next time we invade Poland or Russia and the Western World goes all "Why the heck are you idiots doing this again?" on us, we'll reply that we just want our rug back. It really tied the room together. Good luck arguing with that!

    Hmm, cannot wait for the crop of German Oline prospects, trained from youth just play Bavarian Marching music and the line right up and begin to move as one cohesive unit, quite amazing to see really...
