“The thing I like about the definition of the offense is that it spreads the ball out naturally,” "naturally".. How would you interpret that?, what does it mean schematically?, and for whom is it more of a fit, or, is the quote related to the release of Marshall?
My guess is that the offense will be spread out in terms of being at random with the passing game. Anyone will get the ball at anytime. I assume some players may get the ball more than others depending on the defensive scheme. Then again, it may not be that way. This time around, he will look for the open man only....not just Marshall or Bess or Hartline. If they are open they should expect a ball to be coming their way.
I can only guess what he actually meant, but if I were to say that, I would have meant that the routes are drawn up on each play to 'naturally' take advantage of the full field to spread the defense out, as well as to time the routes so as to allow the QB to make his drop and run through a natural progression across/around the field to his check-down. It might be reading from right-to-left... 1) Z WR curl... 2) TE in... 3) X WR drag... 4) Check to RB left flat.
IMO it means this offense does not need big time, go to, number one receivers. Its built around a system that utilizes what we have. Decent guys with decent hands and sooner or later someone is going to get open deep. It takes a lot of pressure off the running game and if operated properly, Bush and Thomas should have very good years. Look at Green Bay, they did not draft any WR high to my knowledge like Fitzgerald or Johnson or such. Just turned a bunch of decent guys into deadly weapons. Someone in this receiving corps is going to step up and make good for himself. Personally, I think Moore is going to flourish in this enviroment and Tannehill is going to just have to wait his turn while he adjusts to the speed and animalistic defenses trying to kill him in the NFL.
Green Bay hasn't taken a WR in the 1st Round since Javon Walker, which was over ten yrs ago, or so. They do have some 2nd and 3rd rounders playing a significant role at WR however. Nelson, Jennings and Cobb are all 2s, and Jones was a 3rd. Finding a Driver in the 7th is an anomaly.
Translated: "in this offense I do not have a ******* Wr causing problems if I do not throw every pass his way" Looking at you Brandon Marshall
I'd assume he means the primary receiver will be determined more by pre and post snap reads rather than dictated by the play itself.
I don't think Moore will have to concern himself too much with how this offense works. I think Garrard will be the starter when the regular season begins and Tannehill will be the backup. Moore will either be cut or traded during the preseason and he will probably be learning an entirely different offense for another team by the time the 2012 regular season comes around.
I guarantee he will not be cut. His contract expires next season and we don't really need any extra space this year. Traded, MAYBE but cutting him makes no sense.
Cutting him does make some sense. You can carry over salary cap from year to year. So if Miami does cut him they could use the cap space next season.
Let's say Garrard beats him out for the starting spot and the coaching staff wants to have Tannehill as the backup and no team wants to trade for Moore. Do you really think that the Dolphins are going to keep him around as the 3rd string QB at a salary of two and a half million dollars? I don't see both Garrard and Moore both on the roster going into the regular season and I happen to think that if he is healthy, Garrard will be better suited for the WCO than Moore. I think the Dolphins will probably be able to trade Moore for a late round pick but if they can't and he is not the starter, I can very easily see them cutting him.
OMG LMAO !!!!!!!!!!! Got to agree Padre. Marshal, although athletic and at times unreal, was not worth the time or effort. He was the worst thing for this locker room than anyone could imagine. Did not like the choice from the get go. Let the windy city put up with his juvenile BS now. Watch, once his old buddy at QB pisses him off once or twice, the circus will start up there. Wonder if the FO in Chicago lets him have the first parking place immediately outside where the players exit. This kid was and still is a putz.
