I didn't know I was General Manager. "My Way" is a simple way of saying that we should be charmed, and get WHATEVER our top candidate is. The real question is "Why do you want second, third and fourth best?" it is entirely possible that a Chevy Malibu will be much more reliable and a better car for the next 4 years than a Ferrari. But you know, if given the choice? Give me the Ferrari.
We've gotten the Ferrari when it was Johnson, Saban, & Parcells. Hell even Cam was the best OC in the game at the time. That has gotten us Jack & ****.
So your argument is: Let's get the crappiest candidates this time around and let's see if our luck changes?
No. We've interviewed all the best candidates. We are doing due diligence. Yet you and other whiny fans are calling for our FO to be lynched when they haven't actually done anything wrong this offseason. And following your awesome strategy, we'd have never hired Payton or McCarthy or even a Coughlin.
Section, his argument is "If you do anything to criticize the direction of this franchise, I will summarily disagree and use circular arguments to make your criticism seem like baseless whining." We should be thrilled that the Miami Dolphins are going to have to settle for a lesser candidate and it's ridiculous for us as fans to be disappointed. Apparently.
Yeah, they haven't done anything wrong, except whiff on their preferred candidate two years in a row. My "awesome strategy"? What strategy? My "awesome strategy" is to get the candidate you want, not settle for whoever doesn't say no.
Bull****. For someone who posted left and right how you just knew Fisher was going to Indy, you'd think you'd be a little more careful about the BS you put out there for everyone to read. We didn't MISS OUT on Fisher. He wanted more then he was worth. Since we haven't lost a single candidate this offseason. Philbin, McCoy, Zimm, Bowles are the top candidates and we didn't like Zimm, we didn't LOSE him either.
well, they thought the hot commodity was the "best" two years in a row, and they struck out both years.
We didn't whiff on Fisher. He wanted more than he was worth. I thought you fancied yourself a savvy businessman.
Oh you mean this? Not to mention I posted it in the RANTS forum. Don't misrepresent what I said. I never pretended to KNOW anything. It was complete speculation for fun on a slow Friday.
The point is your speculation came from the same place in your head that the rest of this crap has come from. That speculation didn't just get farted into existence. It was progression of your defeated and Dolphin emo insanity. That blurred vision of reality is also covering everything else you've been whining on these boards since Fisher had a choice to make.
All any of us on these boards do is speculate. And you keep accusing anyone who has anything negative to say about the direction of this team as whining. Ok, fine. But as a FAN, and that's all any of us are, when things don't go well, it's normal to complain. That's my right as a fan. If you want to fart rainbows and **** lollipops and paint a brighter picture of the reality of this team, that's your right as well. Agree to disagree. My opinion: We're going to settle for a coach. He will not be our #1 choice. Let's hope it works out anyway.
No one is saying don't speculate. But if you think that the following is constructive criticism and not whining then my point is proven.
You have a way of being smug, when you are completely full of crap in a thread. It is endearing. I refuse to believe that you think you are making sense in this thread. Now, if you excuse me, I gotta go put rubbing alcohol in my gas tank, because that premium gasoline is probably not all that great.
Tell you what Captain Insider, provide for us a list of the Ferrari coaches through the past 20 years in the NFL. Let's see how many of those are SB winners.
Captain Insider? I get it. You don;t want any successful coaches with positive resumes. Only unknowns. I gotcha. Like I said. I don't think you are being serious.
now, I really got to go. Be back in a couple hours to be told how dog meat is just as good as Filet Mignon. I need an education on that.
You're all butt hurt because we didn't want to give Fisher control, even though he's far from a Ferrari or even a successful coach. So, Section, if Fisher is a Ferrari, who else was one Saban? Shannahan? Johnson? Garrett? Parcells? C'mon smart guy, who are your Ferraris?
Exactly. Fisher isn't an elite coach when hes only had 6 winning seasons in 16 years in a division where the Jags and Texans have been decent during most of his coaching. Good point.
and you think a dog turd is Beluga Caviar. I know when I am being sold crap. I know incompetence when I see it. Dolphins can hold seminars on both.
What "facts" do you need? we are debating an opinion. You are arguing in a circle against yourself. Here is a fact: You forgot what you were arguing.
Blah, blah, blah. You want us to get Fisher. You think he's a Ferrari. You think we've always gotten the Ferraris and that it has lead us to glory. I think that is all so stupid that you can't actually back any of it up which is why you haven't even tried.
Thing is, Wade Phillips has a higher win % then Fisher, but he is not the name Fisher is, and does not have the playoff record, but Fisher is a .500 playoff coach as well. Problem is, Ross went hard after Fisher and missed, again, that does not bolster the Dolphins Brand...at all.
We did not miss on Fisher. If someone offered you the best bicycle on the market for $100,000 plus you had to only ride it when you were told to, would you accept? I'd hope not. Would you consider that a loss?
We did, Ross once again couldn't close Fin D, I know you were not a Fisher fan, however it does not change the fact Ross was and pushed for him and could not seal the deal. Maybe it works out for us, maybe not.
Well supposedly Ross was going to make the decision on this HC, so it should be Philbin if what Schefter says is true.
wrong. I want our franchise to get "their man". Which they no longer do. They wanted Harbaugh...miss. They wanted Fisher...miss. I am not pleased with this turn of events. The guy I wanted, doesn't want to coach apparently (Gruden) Fisher was a fall back for me. I would have been pleased, but in a wait and see mode.
He could have sealed the deal if he gave more than he was willing to. Missing on Fisher would be Ross doing everything conceivable to land Fisher, and Fisher choosing St. Louis. Just because Fisher was #1 on the list, doesn't mean Ross should give him anything he could possibly want. Why people just flat out refuse to accept that is beyond me.
All right, then what was too much for Fisher to ask? That's the part that doesn't make sense. You act as if, there is literally nothing Fisher could have wanted that would have been too much.
Ross' spin is that the franchise felt "used" and that there were no issues in power sharing. Fisher' spin is that he wanted a power sharing agreement with Ireland. Fisher chose St. Louis. So it seems that he "chose" a better place in his eyes. I have a problem with that. I have a problem thinking that anybody can think that St. Louis is a better franchise to coach in.
Fisher spins it as he liked the quarterback better in the Rams. He pretty much signed the same deal as was rumored that Miami offered. The same amount of control and a little less money.
