   If he "wants" to play Gandalf and is not cast as Gandalf I am not seeing the film....simple as that.

   McKellen would almost have to play Gandalf, he has the role nailed, and the Hobbit will still the same problems LOTR did, all of the CGI. The Actors have to be good enough to make up for that, if they aren't you get King Kong...
