Hmm, McNabb is playing with shady hammies, however to be benched for Rex "Turnover Machine" Grossman is surprising.

The whole Shannahan mystique is quickly crumbling.
McNabb is at the point in his carreer where he neds real playmakers around him to be effective. He's not a guy who can carry the likes of Todd Pinkston anymore.
I think the guy has something left and I would not hate us picking him up as the presence of Marshall could help him quite a bit.texanphinatic likes this. -
WCO type, if you look at his numbers he is not much better than Henne.
Suspect the Cardinals will make him a wealthy man this offseason, he has a home in AZ and runs a Qb camp in the offseason out in AZ.texanphinatic likes this. -

And just to stir things up a bit in here, this propels John Beck (Yes, THAT John Beck) to #2 on the Deadskins depth chart.
Wouldn't count out seeing him before the season is over.gafinfan likes this. -
It would not surprise me if Mike Shanahan walked into Snyder's office and resigned at the end of the season. Then he could go back to Denver where he has a 25,000 square foot house. I am sure Bowlen would take him back to coach the Broncos.

-
Which means McNabb won't be back in 2011, and Grossman will either move into 2011 as the Starter, or the #2 guy behind whomever they may draft at Qb. -
I remember clearly the whining and gnashing of teeth over how stupid Andy Reid and the Eagles front office were to send McNabb to a divisional rival.
Seems to me that the Eagles just torpedoed the Redskins organization for another 5 years. Well done, Coach.Nappy Roots likes this. -
From that angle, this is a win win for the Redskins, if he flops, let him walk, if he succeeds he will not be a hugely expensive signing, either way though, it is clear McNabb is done in DC. -

Cutler, Marshall, Hillis?
He inherited Fat Albert and to his credit would not put up with him, he plucked Armstrong off of the scrap pile and he has played well. -

I don't think Washington views Grossman as the answer Alen. I think, as Padre said, they are simply having a delayed preseason for Grossman and Beck to see if it makes sense for them for depth purposes really. I assume they are drafting a QB early in the draft.

Speaking of drafting, let’s look at some picks Shanahan made in rounds 1-3 over the last few years of his time in Denver:
Jarvis Moss: gone.
Tim Crowder: gone.
Karl Paymah: gone.
Tatum Bell: gone.
Darius Watts: gone.
Jeremy LeSueur: gone.
Ashley Lelie: gone.
Terry Pierce: gone.
And I’m not even including free agent signings, none of which Shanahan really hit on.
Shanahan the General Manager sucks. -
-
Crowder=Tampa
Paymah=injured Texans
They may not have fit in Denver, but they are still in the NFL.
Ryan Clady annual pro bowler
Schefler in Detroit as well.
Also landed Dumervil, but passed on Cam Wake in 08 as a FA.
I am not a Shanny fan as I think he does not make great Coaching Staff decisions, however he did a pretty good job as a GM. -
They did not really give him an extension, they paid him 3.5 million upfront with a Team option in 2011, Shanny has made it clear McNabb won't see the rest of the 78 million dollar deal he supposedly received. -
By your measure of success, having jettisoned draft players who are still in the NFL, Ted Ginn should go down as a credit to Mueller and Cameron. -
Shanny in the last 4 drafts in Denver:
Franchise type Qb
Franchise type Rb
Franchise DE
Franchise LT
Franchise Wr
Well, not sure how you measure success in the draft Des, I tend to think it looks like what Shanny accomplished and McAdolescent tore down in 2 offseasons with Tim Tebow to show for it.
Poor Denver fans..:chuckle: -
-
It’s not McDaniels’ fault that Shanahan sucks at talent evaluation. -
-Elvis Dumervil
-Ryan Clady
-Peyton Hillis
'nuff said. -
I’m curious as to who exactly you blame for Shanahan’s lack of winning in Denver post-Elway, because from the sound of it you think that team was absolutely loaded with talent.
-
I like how he plays hardball in DC, imho that Franchise needed and needs it, but as for being a Head Coach I am not a fan of him or his methods, however if he judged Fat Albert was tanking, get him off of the team (that Friday he was in a Ft Lauderdale Bar BTW) if McNabb was playing poorly and he was, and the judgment was made he was not the guy, get him out of the way and do not be shy about it.
Totally agree with those moves as to often in DC imho the HC has their hands tied by Snyder, Shanny made football decisions sans Snyder..and it had to happen.
Besides, we play the NFCE in 2011...I would not mind if they had a rookie at Qb..:D -
Well at least he adds another option to the QB group which is promising this year in Palmer, Orton, McNabb, and Smith. That's better than most years. Orton as we've spoken about is the guy to look at.
