Get me off this carousel right now!
It's my professional opinion that thinks no one wants to play in Miami.
Now,who's to blame for this? Yes,I'm pointing fingers.

    the simple reality:

    1) better to pay the price for the real deal, the proven bull: Alex Smith, then the QB Dilemma is finally over in Miami
    2) not to underestimate Moore, he's proven his up-side, wins games & can compete with Flynn if we were to acquire him
    3) Flynn makes sense competing for the start with Moore @ a salary commiserate with competition, not a start

if we go with Smith & not Flynn we can use our draft in something other than Tannehill & Weedon

ya know the irony of that statment is if Manning signs with SF, he may be throwing to Ginn and Ginn may just get a ring:shifty:

Want to sign Smith as a backup then sure. Anyone who thinks he's any better then Moore is a starter is deluded. Harbaugh coached the hell out of Smith to be a caretaker, not take chances. 3000 yards passing in a full season is absolutely nothing to write home about. That would have been a great total........in the 70's.

Actually Ginn is visiting Cam Cameron in Baltimore and he's bringing his family.

Pick him at 8. If you think Weeden can be your starter, and 8th rd pick is worth it. No player is more important.

Real Deal? Proven? WTF has he proven? He's more like the prototypical Sparano style QB. A QB who is a game manager. The only thing Smith has proven is that it has taken him 7 years to become an average QB.

Oh Jesus, I can't even believe I'm responding to this nonsense.

Yeah, I just don't think Weeden is worth the #8 pick. If we can somehow find a way to trade down to the late teens/early 20's I'd be all for this.

If Alex Smith is getting a look, why don't we save the money and draft Tannehill? I mean they're essentially the same guy right?

 Alex Smith: would be a very good thing for Miami
lots of possibilities opening up, I'm sure we'll pick the right road to travel

    Alex Smith,
sign him while SF is looking the other way @ Manning.

The last game manager we had took us to 11-5, with a noodle arm, and SF was 13-3. What more do you want. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Smith coming in and competing for the job with Moore

Your assuming that Smith has Pennington's football smarts. Not to mention we'd have to come out with a new gimmick like the wildcat and still not win a playoff game ;p

FYI that noodle arm still completed 67% of his passes that year compared to some 60% and threw for 500 more yards still.

Dont you dare mention the superbow like we are on the fast track. We won 6 games last year. 6. When we last made the superbowl, i was 3 months old. I hit 30 years old soon. You think the men steering the ship will change that? As for insulting my mental capacity, congrats on being the most pompous jakcass on this board. Im sure your mom is proud.

And if we go that route and Tannehill isn't there at 8, then what?

I would not be happy w/ Weeden there.

don't miss what I am saying . I love me some Pennington. Just a very likeable guy. I am saying that the west coast offense is a progression offense that Smith has experience running to the tune of 13-3 and a trip to the NFC championship. It is a game managers offense. Smith looked pretty good to me in the New Orleans game. Also smith would def have a leg up....way up because he has multiple yrs learning and running it. I am not saying he is our Franchise I am saying he gives us the best chance to win right now. We could get him, and know what we are getting with very little surprises for relatively cheap. We would have to free up some cap, but not much. We could draft say Weeden or someone like that to let him learn, while Smith plays then make the switch when the time is right. or we could totally get blown away and Smith could be all world with a change in scenery

To me this is all a leverage game. Alex Smith is not the QB that Philbin wants to run his offense. This is all a ploy to get a better deal from Flynn or god knows what else these people are thinking.

I just hope they know what they're doing. This could backfire in more ways than one.

Honestly I prefer Flynn, based on him and Moore competing in camp. Alex Smith is a game manager IMHO. Looking at the Pack offense under McCarthy and Philbin they don't want a game manager, they want points. I hope that is the philosophy anyway. I feel like developing Moore and Flynn and a draft pick with some upside holds more potential for the team to get a top ten guy at the position.

    Weeden=more polished QB.
Tannehill=major project who IMHO ends up at WR in the league

Age aside why would you be disappointed?

    many legitimate options available:

1)would have no problem with Tebow or Smith
    2)or drafting Tannehill or Weedon,
3)I would have no problem bringing in Flynn to compete for the start @ a salary commiserate with that status
    not to worry

ultimately, the good thing that gives us this flexibility
@ acquiring a potential Franchise QB is Matt Moore.
he was good enough to carry the offense & win games last year
& will only improve this year. I see opportunity not desperation

Flynn is gone. He is not signing here. We apparently were not even close in what we were willing to pay him. Which also tells us a lot.

If Smith is not the QB to run this offense then why is he here. I'll take a QB that can lead me to 13-3 any time

If you are staring the superbowl trophy in the face they will find a way, even if they have to restructure half the teams contract to make it happen.

I do not love Smith. He is what he is........a top 10 guy. The lower half of 10 to boot. He can only improve. I do not like Flynn based on 2 games of experience. Just not willing to bet the farm on him. If they want to give him 2 - 3 mill a yr and let him compete....fine. But he wants a whole lot more. Manning has said -no. the next best QB available for us is Smith. Who else is out there? Please don't say Tebow......

Smith being a top 10 guy is laughable. You don't like Flynn based on 2 games, yet you like Smith based on his latest season, when his previous ones were a disaster. His play this year is more about his team and his coach than about Smith.

I beg to disagree: Smith has already arrived, he is a Franchise Quality QB, the only reason he is available is Manning. Tebow is fast arriving & is the real deal, the only reason he could become available is Manning. Tebow needs more work but Smith has had more time & we could become an immediate SuperBowl threat under his stewardship. I see nothing but good possibilities. we will land one these prizes in 2012. I have never been on the Flynn/Henne band wagon but if he's brought in to compete, I'm good with that too. do not underestimate Matt Moore.

once again the plethora of talent that abounds, the many legitimate options available:

1)would have no problem with Tebow or Smith
    2)or drafting Tannehill or Weedon,
3)I would have no problem bringing in Flynn to compete for the start @ a salary commiserate with that status
    not to worry
    4) Moore is not to be underestimated.given a real offensive line & some serious, competent coaching & he may exceed your wildest exceptions.

Obviously 49ers think he is pretty good. They offered him 3 yrs 24 million. Not to bad. What is preventing him from getting 30 - 40 million is Peyton Manning. Smith also was ranked 9th in QB production last year and lead his team to 13-3

Living in San Francisco I watch most 49er games. Smith is terrible. He is definitely not the answer. He really had one solid game and that was against new Orleans. Matt Moore is a better qb than smith.

you have no problem with picking up Tebow?................

No offense that really eliminates any credibility you COULD have on judging QB talent...... just your post makes me want Smith even LESS now....and I don't want him at all.

    out of all the possibilities
I would love to see Miami acquire Alex Smith & end this comedy sketch, once & for all
Alex is already a Franchise Quality QB & could run the desired offense Philbin wants to employ
dig down deep & make the guy an offer he can't refuse, now that SF is distracted with Manning & let's move on

They did not trust Smith at all. He threw only 5 picks because they conditioned him to check down. He never threw down field. Even in the NFC championship game watch, if his first option wasn't open it's an immediate check down. The niners last year had the worst red zone offense and the worst 3rd down conversion percentage in the NFC (may be the nfl but I'm not 100 % on that) to me harbaugh squeezed everything out of smith he could last year. Even here in SF most people felt they were settling for smith because of a lack of other real options at QB.
