Watching Cold Pizza (or what ever it's called now) Who would have thought that Wanstedt is the best HC we've had in the last 10 years?

Mort mentioned Sparano, Todd Haley, Carthon, And then he said Mike Tice again...

Anybody read Dave Hyde thinking he got the whole article from reading the forums here the last couple of days? I’ve seen every word posted here recently…

But that isn't the question you asked. You asked how long until he is gone?

As if he has no chance at success with this fanbase. Which just isn't fair. Cam got fired because the new guy in charge didn't think he was worthy of keeping his job. Not because the fanbase called for his head.

Don Shula was pushed out the door to make way for JJ.

    JJ retired.

Despite years of calling for Wannstedt's head, it took the 2nd worst season in Dolphins history to make that happen. For the record, I was a Wannstedt supporter until that last season when he clearly lost the team.

    Saban quit.

Cam was fired by Parcells, likely to make way for a Parcells style guy.

Why do you insist that the fans are going to get the next guy fired when that hasn't been the case in Miami?

Na, it's better this year. Our FO decided to take out the HC and they have a good idea of who they want already. When Saban quit, we had to scramble to find someone new because we had no candidates in mind. Now, there were names out there before the job was even open.

I wonder how all the Cam bashers will respond if we swap Cameron for Tice.

Always be careful what you wish for! :huh1:

Why you gotta crush my dreams man? Why?

Wouldn't that mean that Houck is under contract through 08 if he got an extension in early 07?

I had heard he was ready to hang up his whistle after this year though.

Absolutely. Tice is an easy punchline. His "Randy Ratio" was easily one of the dumbest ideas to come out of football in the past ten years. Almost as bad as whatever formula Spielman came up with to determine which backup QB's were destined to become starters when he pulled the trigger on the Feeley trade.

you know this mass fireing is going to cast Wayne millions.... He said he was serious when he said he would bring in a winner at what ever cost. Well Parcells just spent a ton of his money...

who thinks Tice would be a good coach here? hes was one of the worst HC coaches in the league and was dumb enough to get busted for betting on games

I will wonder if the new coach is a Parcel’s “yes†man or someone tough enough to stand up for his own opinions and his own way of doing things. What’s the point of Parcel’s not being the coach if we get a bunch of clones and drones. I think strength comes from diversity and getting input from more than one line of thought. Seems to me the key to beating our team is to know the Parcel’s mindset and tendencies. I hope we aren’t that “inbred†when the dust settles.

I've been on that list a few times myself....oh on the list to be our new Head Coach?

Mort bumped his head, Clayton BTW, blew this one, he said that Cam would be around for a few days while Ireland and Tuna hashed things out, I wonder if Cam resigned?

Is Mike Tice a guy we can interview as a minority candidate? Or do you have to be a different race to be considered a minority?

Let's not forget Football is catching, blocking, tackling, avoiding would be blockers..., rather fundamental..., the fundamentals don't change..., where players line up on a given play well that's scheme... Schemes can change they aren't static... You put too much emphasis on scheme let's not forget the fundamentals...

And the draft last year was no bonanza..., likely average..., when it all pans out...

While I was pretty vocal about one win cementing Cam's future with the team next year, all of that went out the window when Parcells was hired. While I'm happy to see Armstrong finally gone in the purge as well, I'm pretty upset that Jackson wasn't retained outright. He did an incredible job with Ronnie, and our other backups performed pretty well considering the circumstances in which they entered games. I think we'll be waiting until the Cowboys lose in the playoffs to start hearing more news on the coaching front.

yeah maybe, just seems like we've been in limbo for far too long. I hope Bill + new HC stick around for a decent amount of time even if things dont go so well in next 2-3 years. We need some stability.

Inever siad the fans got the coach fired. But, no one can say that the fans always caling for people to get fired all the time doesn't have a effect.

I remember fans calling for shula to get fired. I remember fans caling for marino to get traded. I remember fans calling for wanny to get fired. I remember fans calling for norv turner to get fired. shall i go on and on. I not goona get into whether or not they deserved it or not. It is a trend that cannot be denied. My point is vaild. How many games will it take for this new guy to keep his job?

So, we start all over. With a new playbook , schemes , etc then that pretty much knocks Beck out of the running to be the starter. Question now is ,who do we get to play QB and what do we give up to get them? Yes , I see us giving up picks to get another vetran QB. On the bright side we can get Anderson for a first and third ....

Shula was pushed out the door, and only because Huizenga thought he had a winner in JJ. Marino was never traded, Norv was never fired, And it took until Wanny completely lost the team before he was forced to resign, despite an ever growing contingent of haters. So, no your point is not valid. Sports fans are too quick to judge, and sports radio and the internet only fuel this instant evaluation mindset. But it is still nothing new or unique to Dolphins football.
Yes, the next coach will absolutely have his detractors. The same idiots that wanted to keep Scott Mitchell and trade Marino will always be vocal. That doesn't mean the next coach won't be given a chance to win over the sensible die hard fans. And there are more of us die hards than there are cynics. The cynics just scream louder.

Our biggest problem is still talent acquisition. Until we get that right it won't matter too much who is coaching. Here's hoping that Ireland has the eye for talent that has been advertised.

Let's say Sparano gets hired, now what? he will need to build his staff from scratch (which will take time) and work on the draft as well. I suspect at training camp this summer, there will be a whole new team. Which means that at least 1/3 to 1/2 of the team will be new.

This move guarantees another two years of rebuilding. While I dont agree with everything Cam did I thought he should be given another year to prove himself.

And that proportion has consistently been RIGHT, whereas the Pollyanas who whine about stability have been consistently WRONG.

Don't tell that to these impatient Dolphin fans. They don't want to hear the truth. The expectations are instant Super Bowl powerhouse.

Why do you have to be so honest?

My expectations are to have 2 superbowls by december of 2008! And John Beck had better been selected to at least 3 pro bowls by then as well!

Beck will be here next year, but where he fits in to the new coaches scheme is still to be determined. I still think they bring in a Vet QB and then draft one in the later rounds. To many other holes to fill.

Yeah, because after 2002, when EVERYONE knew he SHOULD have been fired, it only took Huizenga two years to...oh no, wait he DIDN'T fire him. Wanny quit. Yeah, I guess those fans have a huge effect... :001_rolleyes:
