I don't think this has anything to do with Fields. I think we are looking for a kick off specialist. Our only touchback last night was due to penalty.

 

They should be trying out some kickers. Some who can at least kick a TB once in awhile.

 

I second the potential Kick off specialist theory. Carpenter has been mediocre on KO's

Then again an injury tweek is possible.

 

I assume it's for a KO specialist. As bad as our Return Coverage, and pass defense is, it certainly wouldn't hurt to look for someone who can bomb kicks into the endzone, giving the opposing team as bad field position as possible.

Our Special Teams play is a disgrace, but we're working out Punters, when Fields is just fine.

 

Fields hasn't done anything wrong though? I'm lost...

One problem i see with Fields is he out kicks the punt coverage. Sure he has a strong leg that can sent the ball 60 yards down field, but when you out kick the coverage you give the return man room to make good return. How many times have we seen a punt returner call fair catch against our coverage unit this season? Not many that I can recall. Fields needs to work on his timing in regard to hang time and gunners. I'd much rather haver him boot a 45 yard punt with no return than a 60 yard punt with a 20 yard.

 

I think it has to do with his hang time. he needs to get the ball higer in the air to give the coverage time to get down there.... or at least that is the way I see it.

His Avg is 44.5 18th in the league
