If there were any chance we sneak up on New England, you can kiss that goodbye.
Good old Joey Porter serves up the bulletin board material.
ESPN - Joey Porter: Cassel 'shouldn't be that hard' - AFC East
We'd better win on Sunday. At New England.

At this point it dosen't even really matter!
Let him talk, do we really have anything to lose from it?
The funny quotes may be all we have to enjoy the entire year as Phin fans.MelbournePhin, HULKFish, WharfRat and 9 others like this. -
Lol. I like it. Screw sneaking up on them. Whats the worst that can happen? we go 0-3? Have some fun and play like a bunch of wild crazy dogs!

Knew it was just a matter of time till he opened his mouth:pity:

I hope this doesn't turn out as bad as his last guarantee like last years.
Oh the heck with it and let's homer up this post. For what its worth I guarantee a victory! Just probably not this week, but I guarantee one at some point. -
I haven't watched the interview myself. So perhaps he's being misquoted. But it seems like he's making himself clear.texasPHINSfan likes this. -

Keep in mind, I am pretty sure Porter gaurenteed a victory every week last week with the exception of the Baltimore game.
Expect Cassel to drop 60 on us now...Coral Reefer likes this. -
We haven't been able to get pressure on anybody this year.
I'll be surprised if that changes against New England, especially with the extra motivation by one of our marginal edge rushers. I'll be surprised if Joey makes any noise vs. Matt Light. -
Media is rubbing off on you...Until he says "We will win" or "I guarantee a win" or "Mark it down" or something like that its no biggie. Im pretty sure everyone is going in with the "we are going to win" mentality". If Joey Porter wanted to guarantee a win he would of flat out said it like hes done in the past. -
I think it was Channing Crowder that said after the New England game last year that they weren't better than us. I think they only put 48 up that day. -
-
Joey Porter is a trash talker. He's guaranteed victory before. It doesn't have to be emphatic or flamboyant. Like I said, unless he was misquoted, the man said what he said.
Regardless, $10 says it's on the board in Foxboro right now. -
If he backs up his mouth with some plays on Sunday, then Joey can run his mouth all he wants.
Otherwise, he's just an idiot on a bad team making noise. -
Well the damage has already been done. Go Get em Peezy. You Big Mouth
-
This is a pretty good sign that you should start Matt Cassell in your fantasy leagues...
-
This is Matt Cassel we are talking about. I know he won the last game against the Jets but are we really that afraid of the Patriots. KC could have beat them week 1. It wasn't like he was trash talking anyone that has earned respect. Cassel will get rattled by our front 7. I will predict 2 sacks for Langford.
Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin strike more fear in me than Cassel, Moss and Welker. I may be wrong but I don't believe that Parcells and company let alone these players will allow themselves to make the stupid mistakes they made last week again this week. -
I just watched the interview and he did not gurantee a victory. At the end of the interview he even said "I don't want to say something that is going to get me in trouble".
But who cares most will say he guranteed it and what does Miami have to lose. Maybe it will pump the team up. -
not the most iron clad "guarantee" in the world. frickin peezy.
-
Joey, get your teammates ready to play before you say this. This is the 3rd time he's done this and we have lost every single one. We'll see.
-
Joey Porter needs to shut his mouth and make some plays.
-
say what you want about Porter, but that man has a burning desire to win. And I know that attitude rubs off on the rest of the team.
-
the same front 7 that couldn't cause any havoc on kurt warner last week? against the same guy who while taking 4 sacks from the jets last week didn't throw any INTs? i mean i hope so but wishful thinking i believe -
Oh my, Joey Porter Talking the talk. Talks cheap Joey! How about besides just showing up you really do something to earn that 20 mil other than letting the flys in.Hmmmm!:shifty:

:wink2::up: -
After watching the video again that I posted:wink2: he didn't really guarantee anything, they asked him about Matt Cassell and he said it will be nice to get that first victory. Which is right it will be nice to get that first victory.
He said they have the same offense, just attack him the best they know how.
It will be good to go out there and get a victory against those guys.
To me that's not really a guarantee. Unless I am missing something.WharfRat likes this. -
Maybe this will scare the Patriots out of showing up to play on Sunday.

-
I'll be at the Chargers game, hopefully Chris Chambers doesn't pull a Daunte on us. -
no sense in getting worked up over this. Its just Joeys way to fire himself up for the game. And he thinks he's being a leader at the same by, initiating extra incentive for the team to plays harder. But Joey is just Joey, and any who expects that to change is going to drive themselves crazy.
-
I just watched the video and he didn't say it the way it was described. He said we're going to go after him (Cassell) the best we know how. He said "It would be nice to go out there and get our first victory", not "It will be nice to go out there and get our first victory". IJMO but it seemed Porter was careful how he chose his words and didn't include any trash talking at least in the interview I saw. Porter is known for trash talking but this isn't one of them, and I am not even a Porter supporter.
-
I heard him say ""It would be good to go out there and get our first victory against them guys""
but who cares what he says, they get payed to bring it.This isn't high school football.
