I'm more suprised that Mort is close to Parcells than Ginn receiving less playing time. LOl

All jokes aside, it is deserving. Maybe now, when he does get on the field, he'll prove that he belongs. Otherwise, this could be Ginn's last season.

I wonder what we could have received from the Ravens. Highly doubt if it was worth it, probably a fifth rounder. I still say he has more value to us even now than that fifth round pick.

Yeah, I saw this a bit earlier. I really can't blame them, he is a mess. One step forward two steps back with this guy.

Well it's nice to see that the FO has finally opened their eyes from the trance they've been in.....and realized that hey, maybe we do need to upgrade.

Our FO deserves as much heat as Ginn......

Obviously they used to do the NFL Countdown shows together on ESPN while Parcells was out of coaching. But they also did a weekly Friday night radio show together.

We'll see, Mort also said that Pat White was going to be throwing the ball out of the WC a couple of weeks ago.

If this is so, it will be interesting to see if Ginn now mostly returns kicks and punts.

I agree too I usually give him benefit of the doubt that he will develop into a good receiver but there have been too many dropped passes and costly errors this season. I thought receivers were supposed to come into their own in their third year, but he seems to be going backwards.

if that happens i think ginn would get better at returning kicks if that was the only playing time he got. sounds like a good idea to me.

    Heartline, Camarillo, Bess.
I have no problem with that. Those guys have hands. Put Ginn on obvious passing downs to stretch the field.
We DO need a big time name tho :()

Not supposed to, but many do come into their own in the 3rd year. Some the 4th year. Some never. Some right away. Many quality WRs have come into their own in year 3 though.

Oh yeah no doubt there really isn't a timetable to when they will come into their own. I just don't know about Ted he just seems to be going backwards.

so they're going to limit the time the only guy who can stretch the field sees? that would be plain stupid. we are stuck with him this year. dont believe the coaches are that dumb as to replace him with possession receivers

They won't, they'll replace him with that guy that caught the slant pass and showed us something we have never seen from Ginn, some serious YAC.

It could happen Adamp, Ginn may have went into the doghouse so deeply that he is no longer trusted as a Wr.

You can only take so much, the writing is on the wall. You can take the drops if he was like TO (without the drama) of the past and did something, but he doesn't even do that.

And remember who butted heads with TO while in Dallas, yes Parcells, and TO produced even with his drops.

I agree there is not much we can do this year, but getting Hartline in the game more does not hurt us, plus Ginn still gets some snaps to get back into the good wishes of everyone (If he can).

So they'll replace a guy who beat arguably the best CB in the game for a TD two weeks ago and replace him with a guy who's a good matchup againbst number two CBs but probably wont get open at all against the 31st best number one CB in the league let alone Revis? I smell BS. They cant be that dumb

    And you know this how?

Have you ever seen Ginn catch a pass in the middle of the field and do anything but hit the ground? Ever see him catch ANY pass and get a big chunk of YAC?

Hartline gives teams more reason to fear him than Ginn and his speed ever have.

Just looking at numbers, it does seem clear that Brian Hartline should play more, Ginn "leads" us in Receiving Yardage with 212, but 53 came on one play, Hartline has 187 in part time duty, plus he can block better.

But Bess, Greg C and Hartline is not going to scare anyone, Adamp is probably right, Ginn will still play alot, we have no one to replace him who offers the same ability to stretch the field.

Plus Ginn is soo flippin' up and down, of his 212 yards, 1 play in the Jets game account for 25% of them, and 110 yds against the Colts is the bulk of the rest, so he either catches 11 balls, or scores a long TD, or he disappears.

THAT is Ted Ginn to the proverbial "T".

They're already been doing it the past two games though.

I've gone on record in strong agreement. But if he's running ****ty routes and dropping passes, what's the use?

I think he'll still play. He'll still return kicks. But hell, the reserve roll is probably where he's best suited.

He was gone by the time we picked.

Unless you wanted him instead of Merling, or to trade up (and not have Henne) I don't see why.

Unless of course you simply mean that we don't have a guy like that..

then yeah.. I can see it

I'd rather it go #1 Cam, #2 Hartline, #3 Ginn.

Bess is seriously overrated by this fanbase. The guy is S-L-O-W. He can't run and he can't get off the LOS with any burst.

thats just plain BS and I like Hartline. Hartline can one day develop into another Anthony Gonzalez but Anthony Gonzalez is never going to be a number one receiver for any team in the NFL, CFL or UFL. Ginn should be used on slants. Even if we are ready to pull the plug on Ginn you dont do it by shutting him down. You play him up and feature him and try to raise his trade value for next year

Do you think Ginn would run slants consistently?

He catches grief, but then again, he does earn it, I'd bet Dan Carpenter is more physical than Teddy Ginn is, and that is barely a jest.

No one is going to care about a receiver stretching the field, if he drops the majority of balls that come his way. The only way he frightens defenses is if he proves he can make the deep catch, and pick up yards after. He is dropping catches while WIDE open, and if we're running 1 WR packages, we're not going to scare anyone like that.

Basically you're advocating that we use him as a decoy to keep the defense honest, and I agree with you that's a good strategy. I just don't think that Ted Ginn has done that for us even still. Maybe if he were more intimidating I would agree, but he doesn't scare anyone, even if he can get open deep and burn a CB
