Well if he can bring the type of football the Titans have been playing for years to Detroit he'll be the popular man in Detroit but whew thats a tough gig he just signed on for.

Yup. that about sums it up nicely. Swartz may have been the best choice for the lions. Hes got experience, and he's a strong DC... Probably the best choice the lions could have made given how difficult it would be to lure a coach to try and rebuild that disaster.

Actually, tough gig in some sense is 1-15 fearing 0-16......but once you pull the 0-16, whats the worst that happens? You match it? Nah, only way to go is up....that 1st win and he gets the keys to the city!

I don't know turning around a losers mentality is one of the hardest things to do, I think people take that for granted. We were extremely fortunate that we weren't down for all that long relatively speaking. Look at how many coaches have landed face down in places like AZ, NY Jets, Cincy, etc, etc before they ever won anything at all. I think he's the best choice out there, a good solid coach that comes from a no nonsense team with a history of playing solid, fundamental football. He's not some hotshot fly by night coordinator with flashy playbooks he's a solid coach that puts really tough defenses out there every week, strong fundamental defenses. I think he will turn that team around.

I agree, but when you are at the bottom of the crap pile, if you fail, you only succeed at staying at the bottom of the crap pile.

I think it will be hard....but if he loses all 16 does it change where they are?

Well thats true and really if the guy goes 4 and 12 he'll be considered to have had a good 1st year, normally a new coach would be on life support if they had a year like that. Still its a tough gig to come into a situation like this one and stop the bleeding.
