New Spidey Stars Rumored Latino Review reported a rumor that Sony may be considering Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) or Michael Angarano (Forbidden Kingdom) to take over the title role in future Spider-Man films if Tobey Maguire isn't available. The site reported that producers Laura Ziskin and Grant Curtis are tossing a number of names around and that no offers have been made. I'd love to see it because I'm a Spidey fan. I'd hate to see it because I'm a Spidey fan. Could end up being a real turd, the chemistry of the cast helped the original 3 movies be successful. Seeing new faces in the old roles may just hurt the franchise.
Ugh, the Batman franchise slid downhill faster than a fat girl on a snowboard. I love the resurrection of the legend and how the last film (and hopefully this one) have a very 'Frank Miller' feel to them. The original michael Keaton Batman was decent, it did embrace, to a small degree, the campiness of the TV series, but not too much. Each sequal got more and more campy and less and less Batman. IMHO, of course.
Joel Schumacher. Long hair boy fancier. He was responsible for 3 & 4, and boy were they bad. Its a shame too, cause Clooney fits Batman and Bruce Wayne, if he had anything to work with, he'd have been perfect. Side note: On the Batman Animated Series, there was an episode were 3 kids were telling their Batman stories. One of them told a an old style Batman story, and it was done in the old campy style. The next kid tells a Frank Miller-ish story, and it was drawn in that style. Next thing you know, a very feminine boy with long grayish hair, tries to tell his version of Batman while he dances around a lamp post, and the other kids tell him, "Shut up Joel" and they leave. It was a wonderful little "FU" to Schumacher.
didn't mean to hijack the thread, but I was merely pointing towards an example of how using other actors to fill in the voids can ruin the franchise. Don't get me wrong, I'd love for them to replace Kirsten Dunst. That is my #1 peeve with the Spiderman franchise. Please replace her with someone I wouldn't mind seeing Spidey rescue. I wish he would have let her die in the first movie!
UPDATE: Sony Pictures tells us that there is no truth to the rumor that the studio is looking to replace Tobey Maguire in the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in future "Spider-Man" movies. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=45450
Horrendous is too powerful of a word. Misguided, yes. It was a little too long, and Eddie Brock/Venom was horribly miscast. The Sandman was perfect, and the relationship between Parker and Osborne was touching, I think they should have kept it as the Goblin and Sandman as the villians and left Venom for part IV. Spidey could have worn the black suit throughout the film, shedding it at the end and leaving us a bit of a cliffhanger alluding to Venom's presence in IV.
It seems to be the thing to do... Tobey is a rich mogel now, time to move on. I don't mean that in a bad way but it seems to catapolt some to other things. I think Spidey will be good either way... Hope they add him to the Avengers too! I LOVED the 3rd Batman, Val Kilmer was awesome! And Jim Carrey as the Riddler??? Spot on! Tommy Lee Jones as TwoFace, come-on! Love everything about it! It wasn't too dark or too light, kinda a Spider-Man color to it. The vehicles were very cool and the costumes were just enough of everything...
I really hope Maguire still comes on board because he had the role down perfectly. And maybe this time they won't try to tackle so much so quickly.
Problem was, Sam Raimi just wanted two villains: Sandman and G. Goblin. However, executives wanted a third villain added (Venom). So basically, Sam Raimi HAD to stuff another villain inside of the movie, even though he didn't want to.
I'll back you up, I think he played a great Peter Parker, he captured the dorkiness of the character which is what made him so endearing to all the nerdy comic book readers.
Raimi Updates Spider-Man 4 Spider-Man director Sam Raimi told reporters that he's waiting on a script for a fourth installment from writer James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Rundown) before deciding whether to helm it, though he'd like to. "Right now James Vanderbilt is writing the script, and he's working on it, and I'm excited to read it," Raimi said in a group interview in Century City, Calif., on June 5. "I think it's going to be done in a few months. I'm hoping it's as great as our discussions were about it and hoping it feels right for me, because I love Spider-Man, and I'm hoping I'm well-enough rested to, like, really embrace it and hoping that Sony wants me at that time to direct it. So if all those things come together, I would love, love to do it. But this is a lot of unknowns about the future." Asked whether he'd recast the roles of Peter Parker or Mary Jane Watson--who have each moved on to other projects--Raimi demurred. "Well, I hate to recast anybody in the picture," he said. "I couldn't imagine that. It's like the new Darren [who was recast during the run of the 1960s TV series Bewitched]. Whenever that happened. So I don't know. I can't imagine that." http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=3&id=55490
they should of done what Batman did, introduce Venom towards the end of the movie and have him be the main villain in spidy 4, like batman did with the joker
LMAO @ Spiderman will return in 2011, But do we want him to? LOL NOooooooo, not if its anything like the last two.
Sorry, but I thought it was pretty boring. Never really thought Doc Oc was interesting and Kristen Dunst is not hot or entertaining. I'm glad we have Ironman and Batman to make up for the Spidey series now.
Spiderman (the films) are dead to me...they destroyed the character of Venom for me(one of my all time favorite comic characters). Both the storyline (or lack thereof) and casting of Venom was complete garbage IMO.
Yep, I feel the same way. Just a terrible series in general IMO. Venom had HUGE potential to even be his own series and they just ran it into the ground.
