And he plays ST really well, if Crowder is out, Kershaw is a good, downhill style inside linebacker.
-
-
I figured he would be out because it sounded like he hasn't been ready to practice this week. I am interested to see what Kershaw brings though, maybe he will step in and make some plays Sunday. By the way do you think Rex will miss seeing his buddy Crowder on the field? haha

ILB is a problem to be resolved

Crowder is listed as doubtful now.

We really need this game. This doesn't help at all... -
I hate that Crowder cannot play, but I hope Kershaw can come in and knock off some heads. I mean, Willie Kershaw just sounds like a linebacker name. That alone should keep him on the field, eh? -
And I must admit I used to call him "Sammy Kershaw" for the longest time.. -
This brings me to question the availability of some of the players that are on our practice squad.
The major name that comes to mind is JD Folsom. He was the 7th round pick this year out of Weber St. Does anyone really have an update on him? During preseason he did seem a bit undersized to be an 3-4 ILB. But he seemed to have some good instincts. Where there plans to move him to OLB?
There is a chance coming out of the small school he is just not physically ready to compete in the NFL. Also not sure about how quickly you can activate someone from your PS to active roster. -
I did really like what he did this preaseason. -
So is this not a big deal?
I remember the defense struggling against KC last year without Crowder but of course they haven't been doing anything but with him in the lineup this year as well....so.
I just want to ask the football minds on here because to me two starters down (Crowder and Will Allen) has me worried that an already weak defense gets worse. -
-
thats not good, we have zero depth at ILB.
-
Crowder would have to be BADLY injured to miss this game. You know he wants to be out there, and I hope he is because we don't have the greatest depth at ILB.

Reggie Torbor had an Int against the Saints, he has played sparingly in Miami at Ilb, Crowder doesn't have a single Int in 4 seasons. -
and as far as crowder is concerned he was picked in the 3rd round.. how come some people are all over his nuts expecting him to pile up the INT's, FF's, and big plays etc?FinSane likes this. -
Having said all that, I fear we will miss him a lot for the jest game. :sad:dolphindebby, Frumundah Finnatic and jetssuck like this. -
where someone is drafted does not make the player who they are. the player makes themselves that. that's why there's busts and there's gems.
as far as crowder is concerned I think he needs someone (better) playing next to him, but as he is our best MLB at the current time he will definitely be missed. -
Because Channing has been here for so long, I can care less where he was drafted, and when, he has been a starter for years now and the light has not come on.
4 seasons as a starter, when does Channing move from "upside" to "production"?
As a person I like Channing, anyone who lists "Fishing, Women, Booze" as his passions is my kinda dude, but man, you gotta deliver it, he never really has. -
Because hes a different type of ILB and IMO the type of ILB that this regime wants for their style of 3-4. Remember, were not an aggressive 3-4 like the Ravens are. Crowder is not, and is not expected to be, a Ray Lewis type. Hes a run stopping, holding down the fort type of player. Now, Akin Ayodele is a solid ILB as well, but he plays similar to Crowder. However, I think Ayodele is better off playing the same role Roth played for us, which is setting the edge. Hes another run stopping ILB. Wonder why were one of the best run stopping D's in the league? Crowder and Ayodele. Yall are expecting Crowder to rack up stats, but hes not that type of guy. Hes a guy that does things outside of the box score. Those stats you guys are looking for? Thats what Porter and Taylor are for. If anything, they both need to be more aggresive rushing from the outside and filling up the box score.

no one hates or dislikes Crowder .... they don't like his performance on the field ... or any of our ILBs currently on the roster ....
problem is ... Crowder is the best ILB we have ... which doesn't make him good
most of us agree that he would be ok as the 2d ILB, not the primary and 'captain' ...
its not about 'stats' ... its about being in position to make plays -- and he just isn't often enough ... which has nothing to do with playing in a 3-4 -
