James Walker @JamesWalkerNFL According to a team source, free-agent RB Stevan Ridley is visiting the #Dolphins today. 2:00 pm - 31 Mar 2015 Walker also had this to say on Twitter: James WalkerVerified account@JamesWalkerNFL I covered former #Patriots RB Stevan Ridley two years as an AFCE reporter. My scouting report: decent RB, runs hard but fumbles too often. 2:13 pm - 31 Mar 2015
Its just due diligence. Its good to have alternatives after the draft if we dont draft a RB ...which I hope we do.
Really, like this move to bring him in and take a look. He is the type of RB that we need to complement Miller. Yes, he is coming off injury but had been pretty healthy in prior years. Fumbles are a big of a concern but nothing major as he didn't fumble at all last year. If we sign Ridley, I'd look at our RB unit as pretty dynamic. Miller the game breaker, Ridley the short yardage back, and Williams as versatile 3rd back.
Yeah, I'm not sure what the big deal is. He's a solid power back that fits the scheme well and compliments Miller.
On a team friendly deal, I have no objections. Better in pass protection than Miller is, so he could be a 3rd down back. My preference is to draft someone in the 3rd or 4th round.
Stevan Ridley averages 5.3 yards (221 yards, 42 carries) from shotgun in his career. He's always rushed for better yardage out of lone setback as opposed to I Formation. There's more to it than that, but I think he fits.
Moreno has been injured a lot during his career. Ridley's one had one year dealing with an injury. I do think it will be a similar deal to the one Moreno got last but a little cheaper. He'll prob want a 1 year deal to bet on himself then bank in next year. Grab Ridley. Leave Draft to Address WR/CB/OG/ILB.
Not that I don't like him just like Moreno a little better. Would be happy with either and Crabtree Signing.
Yes please... Cost nothing, 1 year deal.....he brings what they need desperately back there on 3rd and short yardage.... Oh and it spells the end of Vag Feet......
Exactly. Ridley isn't a bad pickup, but he's the lesser of the two options, IMO. Moreno is also a better receiver. edit: and blocker.
Good physical runner. Lacks top-end speed. Reminds me a bit of Ronnie Brown near the end of his time here. Similar size and thickness. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=71fZeWeuP1A While I've said a lot about Gurley and Gorden over the last several days, I don't think the coaches or the front office is very big on the idea of drafting a RB early--hell, nobody really is. A guy like Stevan Ridley could help Miami quite a bit late in games and in goal line situations. I'd be on board.
The team wants speed all over the offense, Moreno is not fast he's a steady performer. But I think the team wants to bring in more players who can produce explosive plays on their own. That way, no matter the substitution packages we continually roll players out there that can break big plays. Sound familiar to anyone? Keep em coming as far as I am concerned. Speed kills, so lets murder our opponents.
Weight / 40 time for recent Patriots RBs: 250 / 4.59 - Lagarrette Blount 220 / 4.66 - Brandon Bolden 220 / 4.66 - Stevan Ridley 202 / 4.47 - Kevin Faulk 220 / 4.48 - Laurence Maroney
I like this. He's a good runner with good vision and he's coming from a team that wins. (Cheating) Maybe he can give some info about the Pats offense too.
Stevan Ridley Visiting. Kind of meh, on Ridley, not sure if there is a thread for this already. Is so, mods please delete. Anyway......thoughts on Ridley?
