In a way you're correct. However, one thing that any team absolutely does not need is an outbreak of the flu. Considering how much physical contact these guys have with each other, everyone could end up with it at some point. Think how much preparation time can be lost.

Darlington says Smith is out with flu-like symptoms, but he is NOT one of the players with swine flu.

so is it roth and jt that have the swine flu? i find it wierd they arent mentioning the names of the 2 players..possibly cause they already used excuses for taylor and roth and don't want to look silly?

JT was out of town IIRC on Thursday, and came back Friday. I don't think it's him.

    Well away from here
Maybe there is another reason, maybe those players have come i9n contact with people outside of the facility and want to make sure they know before the media does. Other people's lives may be involved.

Not known if he has swine flu or out of the game. No other details yet.

Mort says the Dolphins are confirming 2 players are sick. They will not release the names, but they'll get out. Interesting the Phins wouldn't shoot down swine flu, but confirm two players sick.

I hope all is well with the guys.
With their health and physical strength, maybe it won't be so bad.
Any flu is awful. I've heard the swine flu isn't any worst than other strains.

i hope they were just over reacting to be cautious of anything spreading to the team. maybe the 2 players just ate some bad food.

Swine flu isn't that serious plus they should recover quicker then your average Joe due to their physical condition.

It is not Swine Flu. It is just the flu. The team is just asking all to make sure they are always washing their hands and being sanitary in the facilities...just incase.

This is from MORT and just reported on ESPN Sportscenter LIVE from JRS, as Mort is there.

UPDATE: Apparently neither J.Allen nor S.Smith were sick at all. J.Allen "coaches decision to hold us out"

Do you think they did this to see Vontae quite a bit? To me Vontae passed the test with flying colors.

I see this as the so called news / experts failed yet again with their wild an inaccurate guessing and vain attempts to create news.

Instead of reporting news, they're telling us stories. How nice.

Didn't sparano say they were sick in his presser? And that they were in a motel somewhere. He said he didn't want what ever it is to spread through the team. And he said they didnt really know what it was, their just sick.

Well in Sean Smith's interview he said it was a cold. Not a flu but a cold and that it was the coaches decision. So they did have something. It just wasn't serious.

EDIT: Now I just watched Jason Allens interview and he said that he didn't have any symptoms over the week. That is bizarre. I don't know if I can trust what Sparano says on the injury front with players. This Matt Roth thing is now becoming too strange for me too.

I don't understand why Sparano would say they were sick, he has no reason to. If he wants to sit them both to see what Vontae can do, he's the damn HC he doesn't have to say boo to anybody, he can just sit them for no reason if he wanted to. I think they maybe both were sick but how bad likely got blown out of proportion. The evening news in WPB last night reported they both had the flu but not H1N1, and that Sean was back at practice yesterday saying he felt much better. I have no idea what the truth is here.
