Draft choice or not, there's no way I was rooting for Tennessee. I'm an NFL fan in general, and I wouldn't want to watch New England walk through a team 49-7. Jacksonville will give them a tough game at the very least. Good games next week........for like the first time in 5 years or so. The NFL Playoffs have sucked recently.
Nah... they'd play them for two quarters. Once in the first... then again in the forth just for good measure.
I LOVE the worst WR in the league based on stats! Thanks for being such a horrible WR Chris. (insert Aquafever T.Minus 2 minutes) ;-)
Once again I'll say... Both teams BENEFIT from the trade. No one got 'had' no one got 'fooled' both teams basically swapped needs. One of the biggest benefits from this trade is SD's WR's. I love Chris.
Yep and you cant forget about David Boston and Jamar Fletcher Oh and our boy had a great game today, hopefully he does next week
I see this guy during practice before and after -- one thing he is not is LAZY. The amount of time he puts in working out is amazing. He is a true professional and the other WR's are benefiting from his work ethic. Like said, no one got screwed --- it was beneficial to both.
You know, it's amazing to me how many people simply cannot process the idea that a trade can be beneficial to both teams. Far too many people simply look at a trade and try to figure out who won and who lost.
Chambers proving his worth in San Diego Chris Chambers have over 100 yards receiving yesterday, and was instrumental in helping the Chargers overcome the Titans. I'm not a huge Chambers fan, but I definitely feel that a lot of his inconsistency here in Miami can be attributed to the overall ineptitude of our offense (especially at QB and O-line). What are your thoughts on his resurgence as a member of the Bolts?
He did help, but he wasnt the only reason. Jackson and Chambers had alomst identical stats but Jackson had the TD... But if you remember, Chambers play hasnt gotten much better since going to SD. He is still averaging roughly the same stats as he did through the first half of the season that he averaged with us. Also, I noticed 1 thing that didnt change from his time with us to his time in SD yesterday and that is he gives up on plays. Rivers threw a 30 - 40 yarder to chambers and Rivers overthrew him slightly. but you could definately see chambers slow down long before the ball got to him. even the announcers noticed it and said something about him slowing down. I wish him well and am happy that he has gotten to the playoffs for the frist time since we 2001, and hope he ups his game to the potential we all think or know he has, but realistically, he is still the same reciever in SD that he was here IMO
it was his 3rd. Week 2 and 3 he had 109 and 101 respectively... still, he is averaging the same amount of receptions and yardage for his career which isnt great by any means
Chambers does not create separation. The bomb in the endzone that was intercepted was due to his lack of separation. I am not a huge Chambers fan because he proved over and over again that his utility is limited. He did not have his usual drop(s) last night, but he also did not do much in YAC on those short routes. There was a person on finheaven that posted this incredibly negative statement about Chambers while he was still a Dolphin. He used statistics to show that when QB's throw to him bad things are likely to happen. I do not go that far, but after years of having this guy around I am glad to see him move on. I also wish him the best. And Phillip Rivers seems limited - and somewhat immature as well. That San Diego team is a big waist of great talent. They are like Dallas - extremely talented, but Dallas has the luxury of playing in NFC - which is simply weaker than the AFC when it comes to the top teams.
You can use statistics to prove anything, and if you'll remember, those statistics regarding Chambers and "bad things happening" were extremely flawed in that they did not take into account overthrows or factors that Chambers could not influence. Also, why would you say that Rivers is limited after he just posted a solid outing in a playoff win? Same for the Chargers? They just got their first playoff win in 13 years and have won 7 straight games.
Me too, and for some reason I dont think a prerequesit for our drafting this year wont be how nice the players family is.
Anyone think the amount of drops CC had was due to the crap passes he gets in Miami? No? Last year Miami had several players on the drops leaderboard, Chambers, McMike, Hagan, maybe someone else. This year Chambers isn't even on the leaderboard but guess who is? Marty Sure-Handed Booker. I thought maybe Hagan would be on there but he hasn't played enough probably. I posted this earlier in the thread: http://sports.iwon.com/nfl/stats/league/passesdropped.html Some HUGE names in there, no Chambers. He was on the leaderboard at the beginning of the year when he was first traded. I think 3 drops through the first few weeks. But after that he didn't drop that many passes anymore. Weird. But who cares, Booker is a much better receiver and clearly was our best right?
chambers = overrated he is just like plaxico burress. athletic ability alone will get him some catches. but how many times do you see chambers wide open??? yes, he was wide open on that big play yesterday, but that was more blown coverage than anything else. with chambers, you are almost always throwing to a WR that is covered. yes, he may make the catch while being covered sometimes. but most of the time you are still throwing into coverage, because he just does not create any separation.
Okay, the people who are hating on Chambers because "his stats are the same from earlier in the year when he was with the Phins!" are crazy. They have to feed their two big guys, LT and Gates. Chambers is a huge complimentary WR. You could consider it a big three, but you have to admit, Jackson's play has went up when Chambers arrives because Chambers demands coverage... which means defenses have to pay attention to LT, Gates, and Chambers... and hey, what do you know? Jackson is open that way. Say what you want, but the past 4-5 weeks, Chambers has really stood out. He has averaged 80 ypg the past 5 games, it would be even higher if the Chargers didn't stomp the Raiders and pull an early first quarter leave that made them abandon the pass to run out the clock (LT and Sproles both had a 100+ yd games). He has had two TDs over the past 5 games, but you can't look at TDs because again, the Chargers have too many guys to feed the ball. The fact is, if people want to throw their stats, go ahead. But if he plays like he has the past 5 games, he'll be seeing 1,280 yards over a season. That point is irrelevant, but it gives Chambers SOME credit. Please, just give Chambers his due. I can understand if you want the Chargers to lose for a better draft pick, but at least give Chambers props. I'm tired of seeing posters putting Randy Moss-like standards on him.
Chambers gets wide open a lot. Not sure what games you are watching. Does he get wide open on every play? No. But he gets open.
I'll give him his due, he's an outstanding complimentary receiver. He's just not a number one receiver. He just isn't. I like him a lot and loved the way he handled the trade but let's face the facts, he's not a top receiver.
I am happy for Chris. I know he was kind of shocked when he got traded away, but I hope he does well every time he steps on the field, except against us. He had a Pro Bowl year a few years back, but he also dropped a lot of passes at times, as did Randy McMichael, but I felt he always gave it his best effort.
I'm beginning to believe it has somethign to do with Miami. Ok I don't, but Chambers leaves Miami and goes to San Diego and he isn't even in the top 30 in dropped passes. Booker is in the top 14-15 or so though. Maybe it's the humidity. Or we have had horrible WR coaches. Also he would have totally hit 1,000 yards this season, but I just read an article on Chambers (from Milwaukee of all places) where it said he sat the 4th quarter in 3 straight games. So people will hold that against him (not hitting 1,000 yards) but i'm sure he could have gotten 30 yards with not playing 3 quarters at the end. http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=703356
I think it's our offense. Cameron had it on the right track, but who knows where it'll turn from here.
