Sam Fisher: the new codename Snake. Okay, I'm intrigued. Also, a game without a game over is harder to pull off than it sounds.
I think they're getting closer and closer to a Metal Gear remake. There are only so many stories you can tell about Big Boss.
This game is set to take place after MGS Peacewalker. It's also a prologue to MGS5. So, I think a remake is already happening.
A Metal Gear remake would be excellent, except that it's Solid Snake's first mission as a member of FOXHOUND. Kojima has retired Solid Snake as a character with MGS4. The book is closed, it's over.
A game about The Boss would be pretty cool. If Kojima runs out of ideas for Big Boss he should contemplate that.
I think we know all we need to about The Boss. I'm also not sure how a Metal Gear game set in World War 2 would work.
You said "plots you could make about her in a game". Well, that's Portable Ops. Also Peace Walker. No, especially Peace Walker. Spoiler They recreate The Boss in AI form.
I meant plots regarding her, while you play as her. For example, I remember In Peacewalker they state she was a spy sent on a mission to disrupt the Soviet Union's space program. Or to steal valuable information from them. A game could be made based off that story line.
Not really. They're just small filler missions to add to her background and in-series legend. They aren't really the sort of intrigue-laced affairs that fit a Metal Gear game. So, PO and PW are the closest you're going to get.
It's pretty clear you're wrong on this when the creator suggests he could make a game based on The Boss. Your statement doesn't really mean anything.
Exactly which of my posts is wrong? Which statement doesn't mean anything? I offered my opinion about the content of a potential game starring The Boss. I did not say that a game starring The Boss would never happen or could never happen. So exactly what post and what sentence or statement is wrong and doesn't mean anything? Please be specific.
"He would also love to stop making Metal Gear games, as he's told us for 12 years." That statement doesn't mean anything. You made yourself pretty clear in this thread regarding a game about The Boss. "So, PO and PW are the closest you're going to get." That pretty much sums up what you meant.
It means that Kojima occasionally says things that he can't or won't live up to for a variety of reasons, and as such his statements about ideas and plans can't be immediately accepted as a confirmation of future projects. Yep, and until a full length Metal Gear game starring The Boss comes out, that statement will continue to hold true.
LOL. Ok. Whatever you say. http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/09/01/metal-gear-solid-ground-zeroes-extended-14-minute-demo Gives us an extra 3 minutes of game play. Shows him driving and calling in a helicopter.
Hey, remember the times he showed trailers for Metal Gear Solid 2 with Solid Snake in place of Raiden? Or the few times he said he wants to make Zone of the Enders 3? You're letting your desire for a particular thing override your reason. Just because Kojima says he wants to do something does not mean that he will do that something. His statements must always be parsed, in part because he's usually motivated by making fans happy at that particular time. A game starring The Boss could happen. Just don't take his PAX panel answer as a confirmation that it's in any sort of production.
I never said he will. Go back and re read the conversation. From the beginning, I said that it would be cool if he did. You basically said, no, because we know everything we need to know about The Boss. There can't be a game centered around her because it wouldn't be interesting enough. A Metal Gear game set in WW2 wouldn't work. The link I posted suggested what you shot down. That if he wanted to, he COULD make a game centered around The Boss. There COULD be an interesting plot to the game with The Boss as the main character.
I said that we know enough about The Boss already, and that I can't imagine that there would be enough intrigue on her pre-MGS3 missions to fit a normal Metal Gear game. Even the idea Kojima mentions, a game set in Normandy, is something we already know about The Boss. We know she was in Normandy because MGS3 told us. That's not particularly new. I never said it couldn't be interesting. I said it would be tough to imagine it being as intrigue-filled as a standard Metal Gear game. Remember, the Normandy operation The Boss purportedly went on was a pre-D-Day preparation mission, just to soften up the landing sites through sabotage. Now, it could be something of an open world game as MGSGZ is, but I don't think it would have nearly the amount of twists and turns that MGS3 does. You seem to be thinking I'm saying something that I'm not, or that I'm opposed to something that you want. Not so.
That was just one idea. My point is, there are ideas out there. He could come up with a story line that ties into MGS3. Like I said, you can make it about the mission to sabotage the Soviet Union's space program. Why did she leave without a trace for years? What was she doing? I don't agree with that. It would obviously be on Kojima's shoulders to make it as intrigue-filled as a standard MGS game but I don't think it will be too difficult.
The idea in this case is preparation for the Normandy invasion, which is why I'm commenting on that. There are holes in The Boss' history that could be filled in by supplementary material, or maybe a single portable game that stretches a span of all those years, sort of like Assassin's Creed 2. But I'm not sure how important The Boss' mission history is to the Metal Gear mythos. It depends on the setting. There's some intrigue with how and why The Boss killed The Fear in Tselinoyarsk. (Why were they even in Tselinoyarsk?) But Normandy is a tougher setting for that, unless Kojima is going down the occult road like Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
I already posted that, I think. It shows him driving and calling in a helicopter. Very cool. What exactly can we do with the helicopter?
They explain during the helicopter's appearance that it can provide cover fire and support, and act as transport between different points in the area or "different countries". A little information slip there.
Sounds great, but I am still waiting for the release of Metal Gear rising. It looked pretty cool on the E3, but the release was moved about 10 times.
