Going to see this on Friday Night in IMAX at a late late show. Will post a review. Kinda excited for it.
What is it exactly. A concert film or a storyline with concert footage. The commercial made it seem like their may be a story attached
WHAT A SHOW! First of all..you are introduced to our heroes early on with some pretty bad *** visuals. Won't tell you what because it is a spoiler. Robert Trujillo steals the show in the intros. You are then transported into a simultaneous story concerning a Roadie being asked to "retrieve" something for the band. The protagonist then goes on an adventure to retrieve this item and most of it doesn't ´make sense, but it doesn´t matter because the visuals are stunning and when the story gets into full bloom....Metallica is on stage in a not so familiar arena....The "side story" looks like it is taking place on the streets of Los Angeles...with the Police and a gang of thugs going to war in what can only be described as a fit with anarchy. Thugs vs. Cops in hand to hand combat and our "hero" needs to retrieve this item as he is caught int he middle. The band hits the stage and after a couple of "favorites"..they launch into "For whom the bell tolls" and all hell breaks loose. In the story and in the theatre as the IMAX sound is INSANE. The side story is more visual than plot driven...keep that in mind. But here is Metallica playing an arena show..and they go through PLENTY of hits as each Hit shows imagery of each classic album. You see Justice for All...Killem´All, you see Death Magnetic, you see Ride the Lightning...and a rendition of "TheMemory still remains" that brings the house...and THE THEATRE down. I had a blast... You are gonna get hits...you are gonna get visuals..and the BEST sound ever for a concert movie. You will sing-scream along and NOBODY will hear you. LOL! Just awesome. Well worth the $18. You like Metallica...you like MUSIC...go see this.
