If there is anybody on this team that's worthy of a contract extension, it's Cameron Wake. This is probably Wake's one and only shot at a big payday so I encourage him to get the best deal that he can. PAY THIS MAN!!!

Good, Wake worked long and hard to get to the NFL and I suspect like James Harrison will not slow down once past 30 yrs old.
Neither one has the wear and tear on them the average NFL player has by the time they each hit 30. -
One of the few bright spots of this season was watching him play. As good as his stats are they still don't describe what a presence he was on the field. OC's have learned that you have to game plan him around him. Or else he will wreak absolute havoc.
And this guy has it together, he's gonna get even better. These next couple years he has a chance to really make a name for himself. -
Good boy Irish..sign the mother grabber...start rebuilding the Miami Dolphin image...something that your predecessor completely destroyed.

This is where we find out if the club is really trying to be cheap or not. Give him a deal that lets him know he is in our long term plan and we want to build around him.

its nice, but since he is still under contract, the news that we talk with soliai and mcdaniel would make me much happier

It's about time we made a smart and logical move.

I don't know. McDaniel is a beast and only 25-26 years old. I would hate to see him go someplace else. -
This would be the first good thing this organization has done in 2011. Only took 22 days.
-
You can understand why they would not give a NT with a history of weight issues and 1 good season under his belt a large deal heading into a period of time when he will have to rely on himself for motivation. -
My guess is that they extend Wake and sign Soliai, but that McDaniels leaves. I think McDaniels wants to test the market. The only way he comes back is if our offer is higher. I don't even think he'll be back if our offer was the same as some other team's.

I believe that Wake would play for expense money. However, if he is not re-signed, I cannot imagine what he might do in playing for a contract worth multi-millions. Extend him NOW!!!

tough call on McDaniel .... what he has going for him is that he is younger than Starks .... but he isn't as good as Starks - especially when he is prepared and going at DE (what cost him at the start of this past season).
not against extending Wake, but if he has 2 years left on his contract, i extend him next year with the promise of a nice bonus - to maintain some flexibility for this offseason. UNLESS, for some reason there is no CAP this year and you can afford to front load a bonus this year and make his salary CAP friendly over the next few years. -
I think Wake deserves something in the range of 4 years, $30 million, half guaranteed. -
I would not overpay for Wake. 30 is the magic wall for DL and Wake will soon be 29 (January 30, 1982). Granted he hasn't played very much; however it's damn hard to outrun FatherTime regardless of the milege on your tires.
Other factors, Mike Nolan took a undersized Elvis Dumervil langishing on Denvers bench and made him a star.
So how good is Wake really? Combined with his age; I would not overpay, I would consider a trade (out of the division) if another 3-4 teams agree to 2 1st round picks.
As far paid goes 5 years $30mil, $5mil as bonus
