[admin] Please keep threads, posts classy, and smack free. [/admin] Just Kidding. I respect all division opponents. I do not view this game as a "trap game", as some Bills fans saw our first matchup.
a lot of people were saying the Pats game last week was the biggest game in a long time for the Dolphins. And this one coming up against the Bills shouldn't be far behind. If we want a shot at the playoffs and/or the division...we have to beat the Bills next week. Even though the Bills have been struggling lately, division games are never easy and they will be ready, and I'm sure we will be too.
The Bills have a better team than the ones we've been playing nailbiters with the past month and a half or so. We cannot afford to look ahead past anyone, especially a division rival playing for pride. I'm sure Sparano will install a must-win statement game mentality. This game is do or die
ord. Those two combine to kill us seemingly every time. Very annoying. Trent Edwards had a groin problem today, so he may be riding pine next week as well. The one good thing is that J.P.'s confidence appears to be shot and the Bills seem to be in a downward spiral that they can't escape from. Even with all of that though, no way is this a trap game. Miami needs to get into the mindset that their playoffs start next week. If they lose, they are through. Take that mentality into Buffalo (Toronto) and execute accordingly.
I'd rather see Trent Edwards too I think. Miami will likely be favored in this one. Buffalo has only won a single game since the last time we played them. They are done. They certainly can beat Miami but so can the 49ers and Chiefs.
It is hard to call any game a trap game the way we have been playing the last month and a half, every single one of them we could just as easily win as we could lose them. Looking at the Bills, Marcus Stroud on Samson Satele and "whomever" we have playing guard for us is not encouraging and McCree is not the patsie he was in the last game, against Cleveland he played great.
Buffalo is not a trap game... St. Louis is a trap game. KC is a trap game. This game against the Bills is vital.
Like someone else said before this game is the hinge to the playoffs. If we lose it's a major struggle to get back into the picture because our division & conference records would sink to a point that even with a tie with teh Pats we are on the outside. 4 games left and Miami can win any and all of them depending on which version of the team shows up and how banged to hell we are by then. Indy should go 3-1 in it's final four, The ravens should at least go 2-2 but realistically they could drop 3 of the last 4 as they have a rough path. The Pats have an easy run this last four realistically they should go 3-1 if they lose to Arizona - ideally buffalo will be 7-8 at that point and looking to spoil it for NE and pull off a huge upset the last game of the season.
Huge game but if the Fins play like they have been the past few weeks a win will be almost impossible. The Fins need another game like the last time they played Buffalo and the Defense needs to get back to how they were playing a few weeks ago.
This is where Sparano proves his meddle as a coach if he can get these guys to rise up and take at least 3 of these last 4 games. Does the KC game worry anybody else as much as it does me?
Look, we hold no tie breakers...every game is a trap game, or must win game however you want to put it...we need to win out and may still need NE, Indy or Balt to falter for us to get in... As to the jills, after playing down to the competition so far pretty much all season, this shouldn't be a problem...just play one point better than the jills and we're fine...
I know it's not a trap game. My post was a reference to a Bills fan who called our first meeting a trap game, but SRV deleted my post, so it makes no sense anymore.
We're fortunate it's being held in a Dome in Toronto, that will help our cause a bit, but we really, and I mean really need to step up and start dominating these games. These close wins are wreaking havoc with my heart every Sunday.
True, but it's better than the havoc from last year I really wish I was going to this game now. This was the ONE game my Bills-season-tix-owning bro-in-law doesn't have tix too. Starting w/ last year, he's vowed to take us each year. I'm not expecting it, but I'm hoping the Bills just mail it in the rest of the way after going 1-5 to follow up their 5-1 start.
not true... if we win out, we win the division... we dont need any help from this point on... if we win our next 4 games we are AFC east champs and at worst a 3 seed...
Amen. If these players think they can let down for Buffalo, they've already lost. Buff is capable of putting a lot of points on the board and with Marshawn playing, well ... he can do what Steven Jackson did, except all day long. This is our toughest remaining game, next to @ NYJ.
I don't disagree. I'm just saying there is now a disconnect between the title of the thread and the OP. I was making a clarification. I repeat: I do not view this game as a "trap game", as some Bills fans saw our first matchup.
I'm hoping this has been a midseason lull and the Dolphins are gonna step it up and look more like the Dolphins from a month and a half ago... Ferg, be a tree-trunk again; Ronnie, just keep doing what you do; O-line, let's see some desperation with your play!
Is this true? I haven't looked at all the possible "what if" scenarios, but what if New England wins out? They wouldn't get the nod over us? What about the Jets going 3-1 down the stretch? It seems to me our division records would be the same (if we win out), so I'm assuming we have an advantage in common games?
We need to bring our A game, the Bills always play us HARD regardless of either teams records going into the game. I expect a long day and close game, but we can win it
If Miami wins out and finishes 11-5, they win the Division. All the tie-breakers would turn over to the Dolphins. By that point, if Miami doesn't already have a better Division record, they would beat the Pats and Jets in the common games tie-breaker.
Muscle and Brown, thanks for that... Maybe I'm not quite clear on how it works (and if that is indeed the case, I apoligize for my ignorance), but I don't see how we would own the common games tiebreaker over NE? Their 5 losses came against: MIA, NYJ, SD (+1 for us), IND and PIT. Meanwhile, our 5 losses came against: NE, NYJ, HOU, ARI (+1 for them, assuming they win out) and BAL. Seems like the common games tiebreaker is a wash for us against NE, though we clearly own the advantage over a Jets team that has losses to 3/4ths of the AFC West.
Oh ok, so the Jets would be eliminated via the common games tiebreaker and we would eliminate the Pats via the conference record tiebreaker. Makes sense... Thanks Fin...
I dont see how this could be looked at as a trap game. What are we looking ahead to? The niners? Granted the niners are playing very well of late but still. I would think that game or the cheifs game is more of a trap. We'll see though. I hope we play tough and win on sunday.
I agree completely. This team has the ability to blow us out. Im not even joking. If we play our game though we could easily beat them also. I think its possible but it'll be tough.
