Wait... my bad.
That's Stripe. -
I really don't think the board appreciates how good Brent grimes really is...the guy is great corner...and no matter what folks try to say hasn't lost a step..last week he measured the knee beautifully...knew what he could and couldn't do and still made the biggest play of the game....hopefully our new coordinator has some different theories and will allow grimes to follow the kid all over..

Not worried about this game. Their only weapons on offense are Hopkins and Foster. Foster gets a lot of yards from pass catching. We're ranked #6 in passing defense. Now with a running game our well rested defense should wipe the floor with them.

Grimes has been solid/good this year, that's all. I haven't seen the elite level play he displayed in past seasons. I don't think he's up to the task of handling DeAndre Hopkins. I'd rather Taylor follow him around, use his size, press/jam Hopkins at the LOS, mix it in with some press/bail, always with help. -

Grimes, IMO, is not a "shutdown" corner in the sense that he isn't going to keep the QB from throwing at his guy and he will surrender a couple catches in the game... but when you least expect it, he's going to come down with an interception and usually a pretty big return to go along with it. He is a playmaker on defense.
If Grimes is 100% healthy and is allowed to shadow Hopkins on Sunday, I'm pretty sure he'll contain him to below average numbers and maybe even get a pick.P h i N s A N i T y likes this. -
Grimes is very good when playing to his strengths. Off coverage, he plays a deep third well, off man, that's his wheel house. But he's not a guy who can consistently lock up in man coverage or challenge better WRs at the LOS. Plus, he's playing hurt.

Imo, the Texans are not that good of a football team. However, they do pose a few problems. Paramount, is Deandre Hopkins. Short of having Grimes follow him all over the field, I don't see how he doesn't have a big game. He will absolutely smoke Jamar Taylor and even get the best of Grimes a few times.
If Shorts isn't playing though, Miami catches a huge break. Without Shorts, the Texans are very pedestrian in the pass game outside of Hopkins. They will lean pretty heavy on Foster out of the backfield on dump off passes which will put pressure on our lbs and safeties. We cannot afford to miss tackles. The Texans oline is better at pass blocking than run blocking which is troublesome because we can't afford to give Hoyer lots of time to find Hopkins. That spells disaster. It's a must that the Dline get pressure on Hoyer.
Watt will probably go up against James at RT for the majority of the day. Advantage Watt easily. Lazor would do well to send as much help as possible to James as possible. Besides Watt and Cushing though, their D is average.
I'm cautiously optimistic that we can win this one and finally get the W over these guys.number21 likes this. -
