Miami Dolphins rebuild plan is a grand failure

- "I think a decision to trade for future Hall of Famers Jalen Ramsey and Tyreek Hill, while letting home-grown trench brawlers Robert Hunt and Christian Wilkins walk has been a disaster."
-
That about sums it up.
Nothing to look forward to for this season.
Ross needs to sell. He is a clueless owner.Alan in England, hitman8, resnor and 1 other person like this. -
I just want to see Hill go to Cleveland. This is going to be a rough season and it would at least be entertaining to see him go up there and win one or two games a year.

I don't think the trades themselves were bad, but the extensions were completely unnecessary and killed all flexibility. I don't think we would have been markedly better having Wilkins/Hunt vs Ramsey/Hill last year. The OL needed more than Hunt and Wilkins was hurt the whole year just about.
Inconsistent to bad drafting and injuries have done us in and the extensions will limit our flexibility.Csonka Marino, dolphin25, Irishman and 2 others like this. -

1-15 anyone? Colossal Failure? Not so much. Didn't meet expectations? Sure, just like every other fan base but KC and Philly.
Reality, anyway you wanna slice it we went to the playoffs 2 of last 3 years and failure in the playoffs was inevitable under the circumstances. Disappointing on many levels but colossal failure it is not.
I really think they just got a little impatient and tried to make a play for 2024 instead of building for '25 and '26 like the original plan seemed to be. Looks to me like they are correcting that this offseason for a reset towards '26, just my gut feeling about it all.
There is still a good core in place especially on offense. I like what we saw from the Defense last year and I'm going to wait and see what Weaver does with maybe some players more to his liking. Most teams turn over 30-40% of the roster every year, I don't mind them flushing a little of the overpriced under performing part while they're at it.Irishman, Two Tacos and Tuanon4Life like this. -
It was dumb to extend them instead signing guys that would be here for another 4-5 years.
Now they are old and high paid and we won't get much in a trade.
What was the point in extending them?
They are both on the decline and are head cases!JJ_79, Hooligan, Tuanon4Life and 1 other person like this. -
Assuming a level of emotional stability from several inherently unstable people was a bad bargain. That's a deal you can work with in the short term, but you have to keep the flexibility to move for WHEN (not IF) they turn. We failed to do that and now are stuck in a difficult spot for a year or two.
But it's the NFL, you take a pair of good offseasons and you can compete. Just need to make the right moves. -
