And of all our backs...hes the one most likely to go Beast mode. I like Lamar dont get me wrong..but we also need a back who can just run people over when our line isnt blocking that great. Would love to see Earl Mitchell leading the way for Ajayi at the goal line.

Jay Ajayi has a strange mix of power and finesse. He's like a blend between LeSean McCoy and Marshawn Lynch. He's shifty and agile, but not as much as McCoy... he runs with power and aggressiveness, but not as much as Lynch.

Basically, if LeSean McCoy and Marshawn Lynch had a baby, it would be Jay Ajayi.

Did I mention he's such a natural pass catcher that Boise used to line him up at wr in 2013...

He runs downright recklessly! Lunging his body head first and backwards into a seam at full speed, for instance. On any run, one arm, the ball, and his torso might gain an extra couple yards, but at the expense of leaving a limb behind.

Take the good, his skill running the football, with the bad, in the gm could mean automatic Cb blitz until he shows he can stop them

J-train has a nose for the endzone, knows how to sliter and contort..great balance and has a wicked jumpcut for a large man.

I like what he could be but he seems to have health and injury issues. Or maybe we were just being cautious with him. Either way I can't wait to see what our fifth rounder can do.

I've followed this guy all of his college career, if he can stay healthy he's a beast. Eventually I think he could challenge Lamar for the starting role, that's how high I am on him

Thats why I say just put him in there in short yardage or other situations where the other team figures that we're going to run the ball anyways. If he can be productive there, no reason to keep him off the field.

Speaking of tailbacks... anyone other than me rather see Jonas Gray take snaps when Miller comes out? Damien Williams flat out sucks. He shouldn't even see the field. He also seems to fall down if you exhale on him.

Gray on the other hand has had 17 carries for 73 yards on the year. 4.3 year avg. per game.

Williams is an excellent receiver and blocker, and should be used as a 3rd down/passing down RB.

I can't recall ever seeing Williams run the ball well on a single play. He's made a few good catches, including that big one vs Buffalo last season on TNF, but running the ball? Am I forgetting something?

Gray, and Ajayi when he's back, need the carries when Miller comes out for a breather. Or when we're winning by three TDs in the fourth

When Ajayi comes back, I see him taking Williams spot on the roster backing up Miller.

I think that you're right. Williams is less than "just a guy", IMO. He's proven that he's not good enough.

I'm anxious to see if Ajayi is ready and active at this point. We have the Thursday game coming up so we'll need a little extra help from RB depth in this scenario. You also have to wonder what kind of motivation Jonas Gray may have; returning to Foxboro with his old/new team. Should be interesting.
