There is something that draws you to this kid Moore... I just like what I see, however, every time I think of 'training camp wonders', I think of Brandon London and a few other WRs we have had over the years that looked very good in TC, but then faded into nothingness from there...

I'd like to see Moore try and return a few punts.
I also don't see why Turner would have the edge for the 5th spot as the article states. Moore has been the most impressive in practice and in the games and Wallace seems to have the most upside from an athleticism point of view. -
-
I would think they stash Wallace on the practice squad, keep Moore and use him to return punts or kickoffs, (anyone but Bess and Cobbs please), and Turner is not eligible for the PS I don't think, so if they keep him, they're seeing a lot of something I'm sure not seeing.

Moore is the most polished. Runs nice routes. Turner is still rounding his off badly. I haven't seen enough of Wallace.
I'd really like to see Moore against a first team defense.Bpk, dolfan7171 and Crappy Tipper like this. -
The thing working against Moore is he wasn't a 3rd round draft pick last year.
*sighFinSane, dolfan7171 and SICK like this. -
Either way I don't think he's a likely candidate for the PS. My preference would be to keep Moore as the 5th WR and try to stash Wallace on the PS. If I didn't think Wallace would make through waivers than I might keep 6 WRs if I thought his talent was that compelling. But I'd probably prefer to keep Ness or an extra DL or OL.PhinsRock and dolfan7171 like this. -

More talent in that crowded receiver field this year. Last year's WR corps was..... well..... do i really have to relive that? -
I dont see why we would keep 6 receivers. I agree with rafi that moore has played the best and that wallace has the most potential. i think turner has probably played second best if we're excluding pruitt who seems to be missing from this discussion. to me it comes down to moore and turner now. i think we may try to stash wallace on practice and if he's picked up so let it be. i think its a safe bet he wont be however. who's going to pick up a project player on an active roster? even if we lose hhim, next year's draft is loaded with receivers.

I like Julius Pruitt's all around game, he does everything "right" and plays well on Special Teams.
And sooner or later, Sparano will have to make a tough decision on both Pat Turner and Greg Camarillo, Greg C is what he is, Turner cannot seperate himself from a 3 UDFA Wr's...think about that for a moment, Wallace, Pruitt, and Moore all are at least on Turner's level of play, if not higher.
In a just NFL, the wolf pack would notice a certain number #84 was walking with a pronounced limp...just sayin'..FinSane, gafinfan, dolfan7171 and 1 other person like this. -
as for the 2011 draft it is loaded with wrs. not like other years at all.Bpk and dolfan7171 like this. -
If I was Sparano/Ireland, this would be my 5:
1) Marshall
2) Hartline
3) Bess
4) Camarillo
5) Moore

One that tall with that kind of speed, with decent hands and crazy upside; it's insane to think that you could put him on a taxi squad and get away with it.
If I'm Sparano, I'm asking Ireland to heat up the phone lines shopping Bess and Camarillo and see who bites highest on either. We could come away from this preseason with a full roster of young, talented WRs AND an extra 2nd or 3rd-round pick next draft for one of either Bess or Cam.VanDolPhan, gafinfan and Dol-Fan Dupree like this. -
Camarillo is a guy I love and always will but he is one of three guys in a pod which really only needs, at the most two. We really need to be looking to trade Cam, cut Turner, and keep Moore and Wallace active while also stashing Pruitt.
Of course the other option is to put Cam on the PUP list for the first six weeks while giving Moore and Wallace a chance to really show their worth in live action and then make the proper choice based on game play. Cam does have a groin injury, does he not?
As for Turner, imho with this being a non CAP year it puts us in a perfect situation to clear the books if he looks no better than the other two which imho he looks worse. -

That is the sort of leap of faith that Dolphins fans have been burned on often in the past, but they did identify Crayton, Austin, and DBess, so they appear they know what they are doing based on past track record. -
Good stuff guys...keep it coming!! I think they should keep Marlon Moore and instead of Wallace but that is my opinion of course.
-
Ask me who deserves that 5th WR spot, and his name should come after Wallace's, Moore's and Pruitt's.Ozzy, texasPHINSfan, jetssuck and 1 other person like this. -
Easy solution to me: Keep Moore. He's the guy who creates separation and reads the defense well enough to find the soft spots. Choose between Turner/Wallace for the practice squad. Bring the other back next year if still available. If not, who cares? Easily replaced. There will be plenty of undrafted big/fast receivers with potential that are as raw and unpolished as those two. Moore I've been really impressed with. I'd actually like to see him given a few snaps with the first team when Marshall, Hartline, and/or Bess need a breather. I think his competition should be Camarillo more than Turner and Wallace.
I'd also like to see Moore tried out as a punt returner. Now if he can contribute on special teams as a gunner and/or returner, then this really isn't a question, IMO. That's the icing on the cake for his roster spot, barring someone too good and proven (i.e. a return man that actually has some experiencing housing a few) gets waived from elsewhere.jetssuck likes this. -
Helps keep him further off teams' radars if he needs to clear waivers. -
Turner strikes me as being kinda "meh" about his effort and intensity level. Like my pothead friends in highschool. I'm not saying he smokes pot, but he sure acts as disinterested as the burners I know.
And if he weren't from USC, there is no way in hell they take him as high as the 3rd round. That school's reputation helped deceive their eyes when it came to scouting this guy and assuming more upside than he'd ever fulfill.

it seems one of these 3 will make the squad now without having to keep an 'extra' WR with CAM gone ...
wish him well ... coming from one of the few who actually saw potential in him 3 years ago when folks thought he was a 1 catch wonder .... -

Marshall, Hartline, Bess, Moore, Turner. Excellent youthiness, with a splash of veteran leadership and beastiality.

The Cam trade makes this discussion arguably more interesting, because now you're juggling that 5th spot between Turner, Wallace, and Pruitt. (I would hazard a guess that Moore is the 4th guy at this point. Being that we can keep 5, the regime can still hang on to Turner as a pride pick at this point while still giving Moore a shot).
Wallace might have the physical specimen part down, but I do not think he will be such a hot commodity that we will have to worry about stashing him away from other teams. If he's not "there" yet to beat out Patrick Turner here, I don't see there being a bullrush for him in FA. -
Strictly imho but:
I think D Bess is the next Wr on the trade block.
Here is why, suppose Marlon Moore shows a similar skill set, short area quickness, good hands, not afraid to catch the ball when the wood will be laid.
But he also adds superior speed and height to the mix.
Who would he replace? Hartline or Bess?
They could move Moore to the Slot.
Just a thought.
Scouting report on Moore is he is athletic, good burst into his cuts, but his hands are inconsistent.

if scouting report says moore's hands are inconsistent, there is no way we trade bess.
besides, with cammy gone there is room for both now. I don't see a need to trade away another WR at this point; that would just deplete our for-the-first-time-in-a-decade pretty solid WR corps. -
SI.Com is not exactly psychic when it comes to how these guys will play once the lights come on and the whistle blows either..:D
And I am not suggesting Monday Bess is shipped to the Rams, what I am saying is there is a logic to moving someone else into the slot to replace Bess..why do you suppose he has not been given a contract extension as of yet? -
-
Pat Turner, like Pat White is still only here due to where they were drafted.
It is the same reason that Ted Ginn stayed in front of Hartline for so long.
And just about the same reason (money this time) that C.Clemons did not get a chance to play until the end of the year over G.Wilson. -
