While Parcells and GM Jeff Ireland did yeomen-like work in overhauling the roster with 29 new players, including several key veterans from their Cowboys days, Sparano deserves a ton of credit for his motivational skills and decision-making on a daily basis. His eye for detail, toughness and work ethic can't be questioned. It's hard to imagine how he lost the AP Coach of the Year award to Atlanta's Mike Smith.
