Quinn is a restricted free agent, so the only way we lose him is if another team signs him to an offer sheet. I highly doubt Miami would match a multi-year offer sheet, but so far, not much interest has been expressed.

As for Banks, he has three years left on his deal, but Seattle is one of the teams to have expressed interest in Dorell Wright. Luke Ridnour's trade value is extremely low right now; he can be had for peanuts at this point. I'd force them to take on Banks - they're nowhere close to the tax, and won't be making any major signings. I wouldn't move Haslem, Wright, Cook, etc. unless it's an absolute steal of a deal and / or the other team takes back Marcus Banks.

As for Alonzo Mourning, all signs have indicated towards a mid-season return thus far. It's be great if he can get back on the court sooner, though.

Not too sure if there's anything out there in Haslem's value range. The only players I can think of are Jeff Foster and Etan Thomas. I don't think Haslem is enough to land Hinrich or Mo Williams; however, maybe adding Cook or a sign-and-traded Dorell Wright can change that.

Who knows what Riley is up to. He usually pulls off the unexpected in August or September.

Also, not to post whore, but we have ourselves a legitimate problem for the 2010 offseason. Wade did an interview earlier where he stated that he would not turn down $50 million from a European club; never in a million years. Kobe Bryant also added that if someone turned that down, he'd "beat them up" - you may take this with a grain of salt, but it's not. If one of those clubs can't land LeBron, then I'm going to bet my bottom dollar that they'll go after Dwyane Wade. His dollar is probably a bit cheaper than LeBron's.

Think about it, $17.5 million per year vs. $40-50 million per year where the club pays the taxes.

EDIT: This is the exact quote, credit to the Arizona Republic,

    - Dwyane Wade

Give him a good supporting cast and give him $20-25 million a year.

Possible but I don't see it happening. I think he ends up back in Miami.

Starting to hate the Europeans lol.

If Wade or someone ends up in Europe we will have a situation very similar to international soccer...

The NBA is going to have to raise the salary cap for 2010... and brace for this Europe thing. I dont know how much of a threat it really is... but the NBA is going to have to be allowed to pay these guys more to the increase to go to Europe isnt so significant...

    ****ing European bastards!!!

If Dwyane wants another All-Star caliber player to be added in 2010 with him, then he's going to have to settle for $15 - 17 million per. Not like he'll get much more from an outsider, but that's significantly less than the maximum we can offer him outright I believe.

I'm actually worried about Europe's impact on free agency. At least one or two of the big name free agents (LeBron, Wade, Amare, Bosh, Dirk, T-Mac, etc.) are going to bolt over there. Hopefully Dirk is one, though.

You guys are forgetting the shoe companies and the companies that pay these athletes to endorse their products. They WANT them in the American market.

A move to europe would kill that avenue.

NONE of these guys will go to europe. it is all just one big bluff.

Ooo ok, that makes sense. Tnx.
Nah, I don't see it happening just yet. I expect them to be like the MLS for a period, where they get all the players whose career is winding down. I could see them eventually getting a star to bolt though.

I say we invade, lets start with France, Hell all you need is a few drunk guys with packing 12 gauges.

Yeah some Euroteam has a more realistic shot at him then Chicago does, and with him being essentially exhibited to the world right now, a club will take intrset in him.

Totally unrelated, but I'd like to see the Yankees with a salary cap for just one year. If that ever happens, buy stock in popcorn--lots of people will be grabbing some for the show.

So, at what point are they going to start talking about Wade being the MVP of Team USA instead of Bron and Kobe?

I mean, Wade is the teams leading scorer... and playing less minutes than either of them?

They might as well. Its not like theres a whole lot of parity anyhow. IINM they've had the fewest number of DIFFERENT Champs in the last 20 years than any other sport...

EDIT: Not to mention the ONLY un-capped sport in baseball has the most parity of any major sport. Go figure.

Never. It's not part of the media template.

In all reporting, not just sports, the media creates a template at the outset of the story and sticks to it, changes or truth be damned.

No. His unit is the best one we have. Keep it the same way.

The Deron Williams/Wade/Kobe/Bron Bron/Howard lineup is deadly.

Coach K goes to that lineup as his Nuclear lineup.

Paul always comes in with Wade...but Wade is the only player besides lebron that plays with every single Center/PG/SF combo on the team.

Bron makes a great PF. He's faster than most PF's and he can rebound and defend.

Ya... and he has made Melo completely irrelavent. I mean, when you can put Wade and Kobe at the 2 and 3... and Bron can play the 4 like he does.., who needs Melo?

    Hes disappeared...

Melo has been struggling as of late, I mean really bad. USA director of team operations or whatever he is Colangelo has commented on 'Melo. He talked about how he has poor conditioning and is struggling with his shot. He has gotten lazy and they're not happy with him.

LeBron will win the MVP even if he averages 10 PPG from here on out on 40% shooting.

So far..Wade has missed how many shots? (and he is the leading scorer)

Wade is definitely playing in midseason form. Lebron is bringing defense too but Wade is bringing it on the offensive end night in and night out. Lebron's block was nice today though in the 1st half.

No excuse for Wade not to be All NBA Defense (second or third team) this year.
