Brents, 25, was a second-round pick of the Colts from Iowa and Kansas State in 2023.
The Dolphins are putting cornerback Cam Smith on the NFI (Non-Football Injury list), though general manager Chris Grier declined to provide details.
Brents, 6-foot-3, 198 pounds, is considered long, rangy and athletic.
Brents does have an injury history that includes wrist, hamstring, quadriceps, nose and knee.
